That would be funny! I hope you greeted them in Japanese! I bet you do get a lot of attention; especially in rural areas! Akubras are nice hats. I’ve been to stores where the salesmen told me that they have nice hats. They turn out to be wool felt, unlined and not nearly as nice as my Akubras!

How do the Japanese react to a gaijin wearing a nice hat?

I enjoyed watching the Black List! Even though I thought Ray Redington was nattily dressed, his fedoras seemed like they needed more brim. I have found that as I’ve worn my fedoras my style in clothes has increased. Maybe you’ll find this to be the case.

That’s really nice! How high is the crown?

It is an Akubra bowler. I got it from Strand Hatters, and it was one of the last two in my size! Wish Akubra still made them!

I wore my bowler yesterday, and people said I looked like Winston Churchill!

Sorry I didn’t notice this sooner! My hat didn’t have a liner, and my wonderful daughter bought it for me last Christmas! I did, however, tell her where to get it.

I really like mine. It’s charcoal gray. I shaped it into a fedora, and I’ve gotten many compliments on it! It does say Superfine Quality, but I don’t know I don’t know if it refers to the type of felt.

The Territory is hard to beat when fishing in high desert reservoirs! You can wear that and never worry about sunburn.

You’ll be ok. I’ve never had someone say anything negative to me. Oddly, since I’ve started wearing real hats, my clothes have gotten better; I seldom wear t shirts, and a fedora looks good with a long sleeve button down shirt and jeans.
