Unfortunately there's a 40 and a couple of 42s there that would fit me very well. :mmph:

This is a good business step for Aero. It reminds me of the changes that John at Good Wear is making with having some items on hand ready to ship. I found this on the Aero website equally interesting. Good news if you want to purchase an A-2 without the lengthy wait time...
I love the variation in color tone that vintage russet jackets develop. Great patina on that one! What an excellent addition to your collection. Congratulations Andrew.

I could definitely have worn my B-3 more than ten days this winter with our temps, but sometimes the bulkiness makes it an unlikely choice for some situations. You're right about the underwear. Long johns were a way of life here until just a few weeks ago...
The Ralph Lauren website had a great sale in late November. I ordered the Shearwater deck jacket which is a replica of the early 1940s U.S. Navy blue deck jacket. It is very nice quality fine corduroy jungle cloth. It is very accurate with the exception of the one toggle latch near the neck...
In the span of a normal Iowa winter I get to wear my B-3 two or three times. With the bitterly cold winter we had recently I wore the B-3 at least ten times. Our state has very cold snowy winters. Yet even with those conditions the jacket I wore the most was my N-1 deck jacket...
Levallois the facts on your first post of this thread are accurate. They correspond with what I've observed with L.L. Bean A-2s I've owned and what I 've seen on ebay. Like you I have not seen one with a two-piece back. Between what you stated and what I added from personal experience anyone...
My three-piece back A-2 dated 10/2/89 has medium weight leather with a quality feel and nice grain. Scovill zipper. Size 40. Fits me perfect.
My three-piece back A-2 dated 6/1/93 has thin leather with an artificial look to it. Talon zipper. Size 40. Arms much shorter than the other size 40...
I currently own six L.L. Bean A-2s. Three thinsulate versions in seal brown with a one-piece back, two thinsulate versions in a distressed brown with the three-piece back, and one non-insulated seal brown with a one-piece back. To further confuse things one of my distressed brown ones has a tag...
This is a great thread. It's interesting to view the military jackets from various countries that are not commonly seen on the forum. Beautiful Bronco A-2 Fanch. I love the color.

Is the yellow shearling as in your example more historically accurate for WWII? Were any originals in the white shearling that you sometimes see in modern repros?

I've got no problem with the Schott jacket in the picture. I think a horizontal seam looks fine. There were many jackets back in the '40s and '50s made that way. It's the up and down vertical seam like some of the old Avirex lambskin jackets that I think is unsightly. However, if I were looking...
I don't think it looks that bad at all. If it bothers you there is the option of having a shoe-repair guy or a seamstress install collar snaps. It would make the collar stay in place and you could choose the position of the collar you like best before the snaps are put in...
That A-2 absolutely looks like it was made for you. Perfect fit. I've got an A-2 in that color (not anything near as great as a Good Wear) and it makes a nice change from my others which are medium to seal brown. The broken-in campaign hat looks good with the curl to the brim. It gives it less...
I highly recommend one of the goatskin L.L. Bean A-2s with the thinsulate liner. They are commonly found on ebay. The older ones with size numbers are better quality. The later ones with S, M, L, XL have lesser quality hides and don't fit as nice. The early ones had a one-piece back, then around...
