HAT ADORNMENTS: ribbons, bows, pins, pugs, leather, etc.

Here's my go at it! I decided to put a bar-backed pin on the Akubra. Here it is with a United Airlines 100,000 mile propliner pin. It is hard to see fine detail but it is a generic four radial-engined propliner, like a DC-4 through DC-7, B-377 or B-309, maybe). It fits nicely behind a loop on...

    Cowboy hats - opinions?

Maybe no "open range" but still pretty close!! Certainly there is no longer a true "open range," but anyone who has ever visited the rural midwest (Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, etc.) will tell you of the vast farms, miles and miles from any population centers, where farmers and ranchers work the...

HAT ADORNMENTS: ribbons, bows, pins, pugs, leather, etc.

Thanks RBH! It may be a little tight on the Akubra, since I had to put some cork around the head band to prevent sweat stains. I will look at other hats that may work better. Thanks for explaining how you did your hats with these two types of pins!! I will certainly post pics when I do. Jeff G.

HAT ADORNMENTS: ribbons, bows, pins, pugs, leather, etc.

Do these pins have the button-style clasp? I love these hat pins, guys!!!! I would like to know how they mount up. One of the DC-3s, has a horizontal pin-type clasp that makes that style a good choice, but some of the others seem to have a post pin with a button or squeeze clasp. (hope I am...

Those colors are beautiful to me. Dan Witkoff is also a really nice guy. I talked with him on the phone a few years, when I was...

    Preventing Sweat Stains?

Thanks Brad-My Custom Hat Will Include That! I appreciate you taking that photo for showing your idea. The next hat I get will probably be a custom one, and I will incorporate that idea. After thinking about it, it would seem you are right, those thread holes are the leak in the dinghylol...

    Preventing Sweat Stains?

That helps. I know what material you are talking about, I believe. Instead of library book cover plastic, it is more flexible and has an almost rubbery feel to it, but at the same time is also transparent? I have some of the suspected material in the top of an Akubra Wentworth I have, if its...

    Preventing Sweat Stains?

Is Plastic different from "Onion Skin" material? Thanks guys, Is the plastic, the clear acetate, like used to cover library books, or something else? Am I guessing correctly that onion skin is not really "onion skin?":o Is this the stuff similar to parchment paper? Both of these ideas...
