Yeah, the leather soles were a big mistake (I don’t think I even looked at the soles before buying them). I was slipping whenever it rained. My cobbler gave me some with good traction. I have another pair (not Oak Street) with Dainite soles like these, they’re fine.
I’ve had a pair of these for four or five years (also natural leather, but not hightop like these). After a month or two, one of the heels simply fell off. Oak Street apologized and offered to make it right, but since I was living overseas, there wasn’t much to do but take it to a local cobbler...
I just had a similar experience - I don't want to pick on the maker (Covid seems to have been a factor), but I'm never buying another article of clothing that I haven't tried on. I think.
I came here a couple years ago to research my first serious jacket purchase (an Aero, which turned out...
Here it is - Premier halfbelt in navy Vicenza, with nickel hardware (Talon zipper) and olive sateen lining, made by Julie Leitch. I'm really happy with it.
I'm glad I stayed with nickel. I agree with most of the folks in this thread that brass is more striking, but I was going for kind of an...
What a gorgeous object. I've got a premium halfbelt in navy Vicenza on the way, with nickel hardware - I've been second-guessing myself about the whole idea, but your photos have really set my mind at ease this morning. (Not that it'll be the same thing, I realize. This legendary midnight blue...

Thanks a lot, everyone. Yeah, I found those side clamps a little dismaying to look at (likewise the gumball-machine bauble on the pocket zipper). For fit-related reasons, Aero is now recommending I go with the Premier halfbelt, which seems to have the side benefit of nicer hardware. The Premier...
Hi — First-time poster / short-time lurker here. I'm in the midst of getting my first Aero, a 1930s halfbelt in navy Vicenza. I took a chance and bought one from Aero's sale page; the fit isn't right, but I like it so much otherwise that I'm sending it back and ordering a new one.
Fit aside...
