Recommendations for starting point to research British life during WWII?

Coal House at War can be found on Youtube. Though it is set in Wales it is small town Wales and what people experience might be useful for you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aICzcTUd-go 1940's House has a compainion book that is more useful than the show since it goes into depth about what day...

Do ladies really have to dress old & frumpy after a certain age...?

I vote for the classics myself. Aand a classic is whatever YOU like to wear from year to year that always looks good on you. Sean Ferrer said of his mother Audrey (Hepburn) that she stuck to similar colors, lines and styles throughout her life. His also commented that it was unusual for a woman...

    Handsome Fellas!

I like a man in a nice hat and for him to smell nice-but not too heavy on the cologne. Anything Cary Grant wore was lovely because it was simple, classic, and fit well.

    Whats in YOUR winter wardrobe??

Winter woolies If trousers were good enough for Kate Hepburn they are good enough for me. ( I get cold easily) I am always looking for classic cut sweaters to wear with them. I had an idea for you ladies who sew too. During World War Two women often made over men's suits into suits for...

Any ladies still sporting a pixie cut?

Anyone know of any sites for vintage clothing for a student budget?

Vintage on a budget I agree with the other ladies in that a thrift store is a girl's best friend. I also agree that modern retro shapes and styles are worth buying too. It may be considered cheating but they come in a variety of sizes and you can wash them more easily. Sixty year old fabrics...
