I've always worn my Akubras for bad weather. Seems to make them look better. Should dry them on a hat block/hat jack. Would not wear my Borsolino in the rain. Got some beaver hats I've never tried in the wet, maker told me they would handle wet with no problem. My first hat, akubra over 30 years old

Got a campdraft a few years ago. I like it. Holds up in the rain, good sun protection, and I like it's looks. The open road is too big for me, very LBJ, too western. I need a high crown to keep the top from touching my head. I do live on Long Island so maybe that has influenced my thinking...

I got one that could be in that color group, it was coyote, little bit lighter and brighter than the whiskey, at least in the swatches I got at the time.

I've used the felt and paper towels, but I just got a ventilated santana straw that was too big. I got some of that gray foam with adhesive on one side at ACE hardware, for sealing windows etc, it is 3/16" thick. Put it around with adhesive out, so that the band wasn't touching sticky. Fits...

Waiting for a call from Mr. Fawcett. Got in line sometime in June, caught the end of his sale. Want an attention grabber in Black Cherry beaver. Way too hot to wear now so in reality no rush. Probably won't get cool enough to wear until October.
