Vanson Model J HORSEHIDE Size 50

With great reluctance, I have decided to part with this rare and beautiful jacket since I have lost a lot of weight and it is now way too big. This is a really hefty piece of honey-coloured horshide and this option (horsehide) is no longer offered by Vanson. The images attached reflect the...

    Vanson Model J Horsehide

Hi All, I have decided to sell this beautiful jacket as I have recently lost a huge amount of weight. I absolutely LOVE it but it now looks rediculous on me, unfortunately. It will be on Ebay soon but I thought I should mention it here first with all the FQHH lovers on the forum. Vanson no...

Alden 405 Indy Size vs RM Williams Size

Many thanks to you all for your advice. Actually Tomasso, it is Soul Leather in Hawaii that I am working with. They seem like great people. I am just trying to best-guess the size they need to reserve for me before I arrive there in early December. Based on what has been said the 405 tends...

Alden 405 Indy Size vs RM Williams Size

In my opinion we in Sydney are starved of quality footwear. The only local brand I like to wear is RM Williams and I have a few pairs of their boots. I wear size 10G (G being their standard width) in the RM Williams boots but have my eye on a pair of Alden Indy 405s. I was wondering if one of...

    Vanson Model J Horsehide

More than happy to repost my images, Desert Rider and Philalethes. Don't know why these links break. Does it happen over a matter of course with time? Anyhow, the jacket is really great, so solid, and is very slowly being worn in. The hide compares very well with my Aero Highwayman and is a...

Project Navin Aero Jacket #2 now underway...

Hi Navin, I think you (and Will) have made the right decision in this case since your sleeves will have the zips. This inside leather wouldn't have worked well with this cuff style. Looking forward to seeing the finished product!

No, from the outside it looks perfectly normal. It's just while wearing that it feels thicker.

Project Navin Aero Jacket #2 now underway...

Hi Navin, I was charged 50 pounds for the strip across the inside bottom of the jacket, but no extra for the inside of the cuffs. It does make the cuffs quite thick, but I don't mind that.

    Columbo raincoat

J Crew simple trench Though this one has a belt (easily removed) it seems to tick most of the boxes. You pay a bit of a premium for J Crew, but the gear does have style. http://www.jcrew.com/mens_category/outerwear/cotton/PRDOVR~29480/29480.jsp Hope this is a help.

just ordered my first aero, have i made the right choice?

Hey Mark, It sounds like you have put a lot of thought into this jacket and I'm sure it will turn out really well for you. I'm in my early 50's and loving my new Highwayman in brown FQHH. Amanda supplied the perfect size from the measurments I provided. They know their stuff at Aero! I...

Project Navin Aero Jacket #2 now underway...

I'm trying to picture Andy's idea of leather extending into the interior lining from the cuff... basically if I were to look at my cuff I would see leather going further back into the inside of the sleeve... what's the advantage of doing this? Hi Navin, I had the leather extended inside...

Another New Highwayman – incorporating many of your suggestions

I guess it's just a matter of personal taste. I'm not a fan of the yoke on the back of the standard Highwayman. I much prefer a clean "one-piece" look on the back of the jacket - much like the uncluttered pocket-free look I went for on the front of the jacket. In my opinion, the way the...

Another New Highwayman – incorporating many of your suggestions

Thanks for all your kind comments. I'm lucky there has been a cold snap here in Sydney (well, for Sydney it is considered cold) so I have been able to get the jacket out for some wear. Now, if this cold snap could just last another 10 years I might be able to break this baby in!

Another New Highwayman – incorporating many of your suggestions

Hi Seb, It sits about an inch under the belt. I'm still getting used to this style of cropped jacket as my others are more driving-jacket length.

Another New Highwayman – incorporating many of your suggestions

My Aero Highwayman arrived about 2 weeks ago. I gave Amanda a spec which included many of the ideas posted here over the past months: • Brown, Full Quarter Horse Hide • Bi-swing Back • Remove Storm Cuffs • Leather facing inside the cuffs – like Cossack style cuffs • 2 inch...
