It sounds (and looks) like you are turning that Resistol into a Stetson Range, which is a hat I like.

It's interesting. When I put the hat on and look in the mirror straight-on, I see a low cattleman-ish crown with wider side dents. When I turn my head to the side and look at my reflection out of the corner of my eye, I see a semi-pinch. :)

I like the Gus crease a lot. Sadly, it doesn't look good on me. But it looks good on almost everyone else! I do have an Akubra with a semi-Gus crease.

Akubra Coober Pedy in "Fawn" with a semi-Gus (semi-Montana) crease and a thumb-pinched brim. Arrived by mail today.

Well, the color got "grayed" by the lighting, but I like the hat. This is supposed to be some mystery "Fawn." :)

I just ordered a Coober Pedy from him in fawn. His fawn looks lighter than Santone Fawn, but that's probably due to the lighting. He will reshape the crown and brim any way you want. I asked for a modified "Gus" crease and an upcurled brim. I'll post a picture when I receive it.

Yeah, I'm not sure if I'd be better off with a Premium (Heritage) felt Akubra. The prices are similar.
