I like silk organza the best for underlining. It's lightweight and doesn't make me more hot.

I draped this dress based on the Peggy Wood dress spotted here: http://www.etsy.com/listing/93234828/r-e-s-e-r-v-e-d-vintage-1950s-rare-peggy I draped the bodice on my form with the help of my excellent draping teacher and used my tnt circle skirt pattern.

You could adapt the burda pattern that Gertie uses for her bombshell course. If you do, be aware that the neckline is VERY low. I draped a pattern on my dress form for one. If you have one I could give you some pointers

You look great! Maybe you didn't clip your armhole seams? Sometimes that helps alleviate the straining.

I'm making this too. Is it gaping between the cups? If so, I think there was a discussion where Gretchen said to raise the upper cup which should help the gaping. Did you try putting the twill tape along the upper seam allowance?

    Scissor Happy

I have that pattern from Scissor Happy but I haven't actually made it yet. I also have the original but they are two different sizes. They have different instructions- the SH are not a photocopy of the orginal Butterick.

HepKitty, I find it's easier to cut lining with a rotary cutter than with scissors. It doesn't slip around as much. It's a pain but you could hand baste before you sew. Sometimes I find it easier to use a walking foot to sew the slippery lining.

I personallly like to use belting for dresses. It gives it a much crisper and sturdier look.

Hi Zombiegirl, How much are you looking to grade overall? I personally would add to each panel but others may have differing opinions. If it's just a few inches it should be fine. I once did a large grade and added almost 2 inches to each panel. I ended up leaving all of the extra in the...
