Matt, that's a beautiful hat, the brim is so nicely swept from a sharp curve in the back to an almost straight line at the front, viewed in profile. The shape is so nice, all around. It's good to see folks dressing nicely for travel. I do that too as a reaction to people flying in their pajamas.
Bifnix, thank you for putting up that video, it made all the difference. My new Dobbs wool fedora that I bought online is too large by a centimeter, and my head felt like the clapper in a bell with that hat on. I put in the filler tape, worried a bit about the wrinkles and it still feels like...
Panoschris,
What a beauty. I am just a new guy in hats, so new that I think that wool is just fine. But this vintage one, with its great shape, nice ribbon, nappy texture comes together as one fine hat. I hope you shape it in a suitable way and give it a new life.
Welcome Phil! My question to your intro above is, who said you didn't "look right" in your Fedoras? I bet you really do, sight unseen. But as you point out, there is a hat for every style. I hope you find styles that work for you.
Regards,
Will
Hi BigHat, welcome! The new ribbon looks just right on your nice Christie's fedora. I have a vintage fedora that needs a new ribbon something bad. I had a hard time finding a suitable ribbon last time I looked for one. Did you assemble the ribbon or is is store bought?
What I eventually did was to give this hat to my daughter's boyfriend, who has a bigger head than I do and he really likes it! Boom! It fits him just fine! Successful passing on of the hat! He looks great in it, too. I showed him how he can form it with steam and we had a grand old time...
Brent,
A fine shot of you with bones and a fine hat. I like this forum because the actual members show themselves wearing their hats. Most forum members want to stay fairly anonymous. Have a great summer!

I don't think this Merino wool hat will shrink enough to fit my head. I wet it thoroughly with hot water, let it dry and it's not smaller. I tossed the still-damp hat into the clothes dryer and the wool shrinkage is still not noticeable! This is not what I expected! I'm going to wet the...
I'm seeking advice on shrinking this pretty awful wool hat I got as payment for a handyman job for an old feller. I didn't want money and I knew he wears hats, so I asked him if if he had an old hat! He got one from the closet and handed this one
to me. His bean is 7-3/4 while mine is a...
DH66,
Looks like fun! The models have nice detail and expression. And there's the Cavanaugh, displaying its nice thick edge. I had to visit the great and powerful Google and research the Cavanaugh edge to understand the reference above. Cool stuff, dinos included.

Hi DH66, that Cavanaugh looks much like my grey hat above. Do you think that mine is a Cavanaugh, too? It's interesting to know more about our hats, the style, the materials, the time frame in which they were made, even who were the original owners.
That Barred Owl was a good find!

Bob,
As I said, I'm a blank slate when it comes to hat making. I've never seen a hat-fitting machine before. The item fits Steampunk direction in arts and crafts pretty well, especially with the "bottle opener" coming out the top! But it is a head shape replicator and it is the coolest thing...
