There is some good stuff indeed! I'm also working on a list of silents on YouTube's free "Openflix" channel. I've just recently discovered that but there seems to be a lot on there. Looking forward to compiling it all.

Here's a list I'm in the middle of compiling:
Silent Films on Netflix
Tho Netflix is not a free service, I love it and there's alotta bang for very little buck.
The silent movie theater is indeed still there and still called the silent movie theater though they hardly show and silents there any more. Pretty much only on Wednesdays now. And yeah, what happened to Austin still shocks me...it would make a good movie plot however. A silent movie in fact.
Friends, I've missed one too many silent film screenings out of sheer ignorance so I started a site that would help me keep track of them by helping others do the same.
Hopefully it will be of some benefit to one or two here:

I think the point they're trying to make is not that these professions were nearly dead before but that more and more people are seeking these occupations moreso than in years past.

PS. just saw that my profession made the list! Traditional animator.
Nick D., that's classic! I love it!
I went to Ticket to the Twenties a few years ago dressed nicely with a porkpie. I got a lot of pictures taken of me and with me that day and many people (including Janet Klein!) asked if I was hired by the event committee as a Buster Keaton...
My favorite poet is Billy Collins and at readings he sometimes points out that we pass the 17 syllable Haiku structure in many places and he often sites this example of two college students he overheard talking once:
When he found out he
was like oh my god and I
was like oh my god

I gave 3 lectures on Monday after which I said to my wife "if I could just strike the words 'like', 'cool' and 'dude' from my vocabulary, I'd really start sounding like an adult".
She unfortunately concurred.
