I was looking for another example of a Stetson Supper Club Homburg to see if the hat originally had a liner. I think these were posted by Josh and show the Super Club with a liner. I think both hats are from the 40s. The only real difference between the two besides the color is the leather sweatband on the one I posted is black instead of brown which I think was fairly uncommon on hats of that era. The reorder number is also different.

New Stetson Homburg

Cavanagh Homburg

I sold this navy blue Cavanagh quite a while back. It really is a beautiful hat and I was surprised it took so long to sell. It's a size 7 which might have contributed to the general lack of interest. If only it had been a size 7 1/8. I really like the brim edge on Cavanagh Homburgs with only a thin ribbon of grosgrain ribbon that can be seen on the top.

PS - Homburgs do seem to be an acquired taste for some reason - I really like them, and that was a beauty (if only it had been a 7 1/2- 7 5/8)...

I know exactly what you're saying. I recently bought two ... most definitely not something I could have foreseen a year ago. I always liked them, but never dared to dump my head into one in public. Should we see that as a sign, that we're finaly leaving puberty, Richard?

A good point to show off my new arrival (picked it up from the Post Office on Saturday, after paying the customs

). A birthday present from my wife. Akubra Homburg in Acorn:

Felt is imperial, but much finer pounced than on my other Akubras. Stitching is very well hidden on the bow, but then there's a badly done stitch on the ribbon. It holds a crease without steam well and returns to open crown easily. Haven't decided on the crease I want yet...

Very nice! I see the stitch, but you can pretty easily cut that and sew another stitch. I really like the colors.

I bought this one not long ago. I also bought a Wilke from Etsy. The Disney is a little stingier than the Wilke - and I'm sure I'm going to purchase an older broad brimmed Homburg in foreseeable future

Ole - yes the stitch is a minor irritation, other than that it's a very nicely made modern hat, and the pronounced dip in the brim makes it a bit different.

That Disney is a real beauty!

My Homburg collection so far consists of a black Dunn & Co. from sometime in the 30's-50's, a black Vanzina, made for the German market - probably 60's, a modern German made Wegener in grey and this Akubra. There are however two more homburgs mid-Atlantic (both New old stock Canadian made Biltmores - one dark green and one 'Mist'). An older broader brimmed Homburg is also on my wish list, as is a mid brown, dark brown and navy one

My Homburg project is in idle at the moment. I'm totally steamed up - so to say - about my fedora project in Covington, TN. While in The U.S. I'll also take a look at the Stetson Premiere series. If I really like it, I may buy a Stetsonian and save shipping, customs and VAT. The Homburgs will have to wait a while

Richard, the akubra homburg has such a distinctive look to it, immediately recognizable. Looks really sharp!
