Hi, Papo, and welcome to the Lounge. A warning, though: the more time you spend on here the more your tastes will be refined, and you'll find yourself spending exorbitant sums on objects that you never would have considered not too long ago. I only say this because I'm directly ahead of you in the line for one of Art's creations. Cheers!

I'm afraid you're right tropicalbob. I haven't yet spoken with Art about my first one and I'm already thinking about the next one. I'll call Art tomorrow morning... What time does he get up?

Thanks Ed, I am on the east coast in New York, and knowing the time difference, I left Art a voice message earlier just to let him know my interest. I will speak with him when he's available.

Who has a Western hat from Vintage Sihouettes? Any photos?

I guess they wouldn't be considered standard westerns but I have quite a few Open Road style hats from Art. Here are a few of them. Sorry about the quality of the photos. The hats are all beautiful and fit like a glove.

Silverbelly Dressweight felt with a 2 3/4" bound brim.

Dualist with a Panama crown and a 2 5/8" Dressweight Mojave felt raw edge brim.

Lightweight Black Cherry felt with a 2 5/8" bound brim. Prior to creasing.

Thanks Asmo. Art surprised me and added a dark maroon bow keeper that really made the Cherry in the Black Cherry pop. It is a really nice touch that brings out the reddish tint in the felt. I ended up putting a teardrop crease in that hat and it looks like a really fancy Stratoliner type hat. I probably get more compliments on that hat than any of my hats. The bow keeper and color is so subtle that I notice people staring at it for quite awhile then eventually asking me about it and wanting to look closer at it.

Here it is on the left when it had a Cattleman's crease. The hat on the right is a black Stetson Open Road. I don't have any photos of it with a teardrop crease.

Very nice. Indeed, the black cherry has a great depth and subtlety. It's one of several favorites I've seen on Art's site.
Speaking of which, I need to ask a dumb question. When it says the Century line of felt is $385, that's just the felt and not a complete hat. Right?

Nope, that is a completed hat with that type of felt body...

Holy moly!
I don't know why, but I thought I'd never be able to afford one of Art's creations. I've admired his work on here for years. I had better get to designing.
Thanks!

Asmo, Tom already answered your question but I thought I might mention that the price not only includes the entire hat but a beautiful black hat box. The box can be seen in a couple of my original pictures. The only other cost is shipping. It usually runs around $15.00 to ship to me in San Antonio, Texas.

Thanks, Landman. The boxes do look nice. And $15 shipping is reasonable too. I'm pretty excited that one of these hats is within my reach.
