Nice, but that's Ben Affleck playing George Reeves (and Lorry Ayers as Phyllis Coates/Lois Lane) in Hollywoodland, not the real George Reeves. Then again, he's playing George Reeves playing Clark Kent in that scene, so I suppose it still counts.Another view with the tilt to the right.

If you think about an episode of Superman,
you have to wonder why some resident of
Metropolis never found his suit and fedora
thrown at the bottom of a phone booth,
apparently, the only place Superman
would change. Could have made for
an interesting story: Jimmy Olsen grows
suspicious when he finds Clark's clothes
in a phone booth outside of, say, Pop's
Soda Shoppe.

Easily explained: he was faster than light. Once he got changed, he zipped home, hung up his clothes, fed the cat, and zipped off to save the world. What always surprised me was that he really did look different without the glasses. Did he also change his hairstyle? I can't remember.

I just watched a couple episodes yesterday and was amazed at how many great looking fedora's they had other people wearing.

In on episode, Jimmy and Lois wound up in Clark's
apartment, a depressing flat that mad the Kramden's
kitchen in the Honeymooners seem joyous. Anyway,
they opened his closet and there was nothing but
about six metal hangers. It looked like a cheap motel
closet after somebody just checked out.
In another episode, Lois grows suspicious, confronting
Clark about how he always disappears when Superman
appears, then returns when Superman is gone.
"I wonder," Lois muses, staring suspiciously at
Clark.
"Well, no wonder you wonder, Lois," Clark
replies with a grin. "You're a pretty wonder-ful
girl."

Fedoralover, you are on the mark about the hats all around in Metropolis. That series may be the foundation of my own hat habit.

I can't claim the same, but I do believe the hats that Reeves wore in the series helped to shape my own tastes in fedoras--wide(ish) brims with the front snapped way down, and lower and more squared-off crowns.

That was a rather short-brimmed affair, something like a Stetson Saxon with a 2" brim. Or maybe the brim just looked tiny in comparison to Chris's height and frame . . .

Christopher Reeves was the last Superman to wear a hat at all, iirc. In 1978, it marked him out as looking just a little bit outdated, like he was a fuddy duddy who dressed a generation out. I think that worked for the kinda geeky take on Kent that he had. Certainly worked from the pov of Kent being the disguise rather than Superman.
Great film, even better wardrobe!
I think he has in most versions I've seen.... certainly I seem to recall Superman always had a kiss-curl that Kent didn't. Still bloody obvious, really, but then it's a suspension of disbelief thing. If he looked too different, it might confuse us, the audience, so we're invited to suspend disbelief and assume that with very little change, people think he looks completely different. It's been a tradition in opera for centuries...
Dean Cain's Superman also had time to fly underneath ten cars, greasing them fully just by touching them with his head.... (really hated that incarnation - both Supes and Kent).

Back to the hat.... I love the hat in the OP. I wish I could get a Fedneration or two with that big, wide binding that looks like a Homburg's had it's brim ironed flat and snapped.... Gorgeous look to it.
