German & Austrian Hutmachers

Super! I would have to see if I can find anything on the "Mentor" trademark. It appears to be made of Wool and a crown tip patch (so no liner). Is it made of Wool? Does it have a paper label? If so I would like to see it even if it doesn't have a company mark. My feeling is this hat is possibly late 30s early 40s and made for a distributor.

Yes, it's wool and I agree on the late 30s based on the style and the manufacturing details. Sadly there's absolutely nothing inside or behind the bands that could give a hint. It would be very nice if you could look for the name in your sources!

I have to say that for a wool hat, it's really not that bad in shape. I think I'm gonna reblock it and give it a new life.

I couldn't find anything but it's possible I might in the future (usually happens by accident). It's also possible it wasn't made by a German or Austrian Hat Company.

Weston, 56cm possibly mid to later 1950s. No company mark but probably made for a distributor. I couldn't find anything on the "Weston" trademark which is a play on Stetson. The felt is light in weight and pliable.

Thanks for looking!

Who knows, some of the hatters in that time had their own printed sweatbands just as we have nowadays.
I bought some 30s millinery tools a few years ago which included sweatbands with a "Luftikus" print on them, which clearly also wasn't a known name back then.

The trademarks are hard to track down because the online databases are lacking so that means I need to look through the Hat Newspapers and other documents I have photos of and they are also lacking. I also couldn't find anything on the "Weston" trademark. My guess is it was owned by on of the distributors (for example F.W. Schneider).

Mayser Advertising Stand, possibly 1950s or could be later. This is a really nice item that Stefan let me know about.

Ah, you got that one. Very good. It is indeed a very cool looking item. I like that the advertising text and logos are not just printed on there, but are sort of embossed. Makes it look luxurious.

Stefan, Thanks again for letting me know about it. The center Mayser + Eagle is a separate piece that pops out. Josef Preissler Pforzheim the company that made it appears to be well known. They were still around in the 1970s.

Mayser "Spezial", 59cm, early 1960s. The felt on this one is fantastic, great finish + dyeing, very dense and easily dry creases. I also really like the dimensions and form. The overall quality is very high. The liner is spot glued so this is another example of when that transition occurred (early 1960s).

The two go so well together, Steve. I don't know which one I'd rather have, the hat or the stand. Probably both [emoji4]. Nice finds.

Very nice, classic. It is always interesting to see these transitional features like the liner. The display piece is really cool.

Lovely homburg, Steve. Apparently Willenbrink existed 75 years in 1960. I had a hat with the same imprint, that was dated 1960.
