@scottyrocks Depends what the open crown of your Cavanagh is. If its 6" or more it's going to be hard to crease a low crown. Maybe a double Teardrop:

I only like big tall crowns to be honest. I'd kill for a 40s Cavanagh in my size btw.

With tall crown hats I like to do a diamond with a dome in the center for my noggin.

LOL, such a dilema Jonesyto have!! I will send pics of the hat when it gets to the point of ribbon if you'd like so you can decide at the right time how it looks.

Good eye. Black cherry felt, burgundy ribbon, 4 1/2 inch crown, 2 5/8 inch brim. The felt looks black to me but I really love this hat!

It has been way too long since I posted in this thread. I hoped to share a couple pics to show some VS fedora affection.

I wore a fav VS fedora of mine this morning for outside chores. Art made this sage beaver hat a few years ago.

Its design was inspired by the venerable vintage Stetson Stratoliners of the 40's-50's. I really enjoy wearing hat.
