This is jacket unlike any ive ever seen, only selling as it doesn’t fit me. Thought I’d give TFL the chance to buy this before it goes on eBay:

This jacket was made in collaboration between Aero and common people.

I am not sure about the leather type, but it is a waxy brown horsehide with incredible marbling.

The jacket also has a very unique closing mechanism. There is a chunky talon zipper and then a row of locks that fasten into place.

The jacket is also extremely functional, with storm cuffs and a mouton collar, that can be fastened. Also comes with a Highlander wool lining.

This jacket is brand new- I bought it off another seller and have never worn it due to fit issues. There is some fraying on the lining (near the zipper), but this is minor

It seems to be a variation on the USN jacket, combining the N1 with the 1943 model USN deck jacket (Buzz Rickson reproduction pictured), rendered in leather:

As well as opting for outer knits, this version differed from the N1 by replacing both buttons and zips with the hook arrangement. Supposedly this was less prone to corrosion from the salt air, though I suspect it also made it significantly cheaper to produce than the N1. The Aero above has the overall look and shape of the N1, but with the hooks from this later model replacing the N1's buttons. The hooks on the 1943 deck jacket were considered easier to operate than buttons in the sort of conditions in which it would have been worn. When the design is rendered in a hefty leather, I expect they'd also be easier to fasten than buttons in any conditions.

Ah that is quite interesting to know. Oddly the jacket has both a zipper and the hooks, looks like the N1 was just the hooks?

The N1 had both zipper and buttons:

The blue one I posted above, its 1943 replacement, had hooks only. The one in the OP seems to be basically a leather N1 with the hooks from the later model instead of the buttons.
