Saying that, i don't you to order a 40 and get burnt like i did with the SanMateo. I got a 42 LaBrea becuase of the arms length and back length, but shoulders, chest and waist could be smaller and still fit great. If you want to play it safe you will most likely fit a 42, but it it will most likely be long on you. The size 40 will be a coin toss, it will either fit you perfectly or it will be a bit small.

Perhaps you should just sell me your 42 LaBrea 
A size 44 LaBrea would be far too large for me, and would be HUGE on you. If anything i might fit a 40, the 42 is quite large a the waist for me. IMO the San Mateo is definitely sized smaller than the LaBrea. With your size and weight i would be tempted to try a 40 more than a 44.
