A great piece of wprk by PEACOAT! Thanks for your efforts.
I recently purchased a 1990 issue coat for myself, same maker and year as the one I got my wife but without gold buttons and a women's size 12 1994 for my daughter from the same seller. When they come I will Post pics and the comparison...
Very very good Post!
I am a Filson user for 30+ years and have had to resort to purchasing off eBay for the older garments and prices. I originally started hunting with double tin oiled pants and hunting jacket but time caused them to shrink, well actually I grew in girth! I passed them on to...
I don't believe this thread has a picture of a Filson Safari Jacket so here it is. this Filson does not have a biswing but a belt of which I have again removed!
This jacket is the morphing of a Safari Jacket with Clay Bird shooting needs. It is a Filson, and does have a biswing. It is not...
Lost World's http://www.lostworldsinc.com/Australian_Bush_Jacket.htm appears to have reproduced both the W&G(Australian) and the 'Hemingway' version. Has anyone had any experience with thier clothing?-Dick
Cleaning kit and screwdriver are stored seperately to not keep a constant strain on the elastic loops.
As an aside, I hunt with an 8&3/8" Nickel Model 29-2 and have taken deer with it using its iron sights.
The S&W 44 Magnum/Model 29 are my favorite handguns.-Dick
When do you think the Brits first traveled Africa exploring? Certainly it was before the 1930's and that's when the Classic belt/Safari coat was developed.
The scan is from a 1939 A&F Firearms Catalog clearly showing a Safari Jacket with a belt being offered.
The next pic is a A&F Safari...
If you like Smith & Wesson's, here is a 1958 44 Magnum with elephant ivory grips by Don Collins in its original box. The accompanying knife is a Full Skinner by Corbet Sigman. The gun of course was made famous by the movie 'Dirty Harry' but its fit and finish are among the best of any era of...
The Safari Jacket I pictured is the Beretta version made in Italy with no belt but an elastic adjustable gathering at the waist.
From utilitarian viewpoint when carrying a shotgun or Big Game Rifle, the belt and buckle gets in the way and I never use any of them on the various Safari Jackest I...
Great Forum! As an avid collector and nostalgia person I thought I would show this British 2" 12 gauge boxlock double shotgun. The gun was proofed in 1939 and sold by Abercrombie & Fitch in 1941. It is roll marked Abercrombie and Fitch on the receiver sides and shown in a 1939 A&F catalog that i...
I have the Filson and its a very nice coat.
The best I have ever had is a Beretta made in Italy I got from the Beretta Boutique in New York. Unfortuneatly it is not made any more and Beretta offers one made off shore. It does away with the traditional belt for elastic adjustable gathering in...
Can't say enough about Filson. Been wearing the stuff for thirty years. Have two double cruisers, my son has my Wool Cape Coat because I grew and I have a lot of other Filson including the double tin both oiled and unoiled I use for hunting. Only purchase the Made in USA stuff because they...
This Thread is great and has been a big help to me! Thanks.
My wife wanted a Pea Coat for Xmas and I did my research and was about to settle on Sterlingwear when I decided to look on eBay and low and behold there just happened to be this coat listed...
