Are you sure the dent in the front is by design? Sometimes hats dent in other spots. There are a few scenes in the 1944 movie "Laura" the main characters hat dents in the back weirdly.
But if you want it by design a bit of steam will help. Hold the hat with both hands in the side dents. Then...
Well there is two sites of the story for sure. I do understand that the platform providers need to generate some money. Hosting is not free of course. I just think it can backfire. For one you have the regular users that at least in part seem very annoyed and alienated. On the side you also have...
I think before quiting it's easier to install ublock. For Android or iOS I recommend Firefox, then under addons you can enable ublock origin. It is the best adblocker currently and free open source software and very well maintained. There is also Brave browser for Android that works without...
Here are my 2 cents on the matter. In fact I like using adblock techniques too. The problem is that most sites are using aggressive ads same as the forum now apparently.
This is understandable because it generates the quickest and highest revenue. The problem is that more and more people...
Those velour hats look so amazing. I wish there was a custom hatter that still made those. For me it's it's hard to find these hats vintage in 7 5/8. The information is however very useful and hopefully some talented hatter will again revive this technique.
So is it something that has to be...
Thanks. Only on photos here on the forum is several threads. So how does that work? Those notches let air flow under the sweatband in? Isn't the sweatband attached to the felt in the front?
Excuse me if this has been answered before but I could not find anything. I have been seeing a lot of MacLachlan hats with these "notches" (dunno how else to call it) in the felt on the downside of the brim in the front. What is that for? Is that part of the Air-Vac ventilation or is the purpose...
It has been way to long for me to just cancel the order and request a refund. I am pretty sure Bob would do it but then all this time waiting would be for nothing. I hope to get it by the end of this year.
Well Bob wrote me end of last year that he wants my hat done by Christmas and that didn't happen. I will blame covid for it. For me canceling it is not an option. I have waited almost two and a half years now and fingers crossed. If it takes another year so be it but in the end I will post the...
I agree @Garrett. All should drop out of the queue then I will place 5 more orders ;).
Seriously I was not complaining. Bob makes the best custom hats imo. It is a bit devastating to see a long wait time but it is also testament for the great work he does.
I'm also waiting over 2 years now. I was told one year too but I guess it is what it is. I mailed Bob approx. one month ago and didn't get any answer either. I thought it is due to Corona or something or he simply forgot. I just asked friendly if I should expect it this Fall or next ;).
I doubt...
If it helps recently a similar hat in 7 1/2 made by Art Fawcett was sold on eBay with 400 wpi for $406 through bidding.

Well I envy everyone in the states for having these great hatters. For ones I'm happy to have found this talented hatter in Europe. I think Esther is one of the best hatters in our time.
