I think part of the problem is how often the jacket gets wet. If it's wet, be sure to hang it to dry in a dry place, not a damp basement. My Beaufort is 25 years old, give or take, and doesn't have the infamous pong.
It does faintly smell like a canvas tent, however, there is no mustiness.
Another reason I like the Wranglers is that the watch pocket is large enough to hold a medium sized pocket knife, like a stockman. The watch pocket in my Levi's barely holds a Case Peanut, and still manages to wear quickly.
It's a very nice jacket, and seems to fit well. However, it's a bit difficult to be sure about the length when your shirt is not tucked in. Enjoy the jacket!

I recently saw a BBC (I think) program about the Orient Express, or some similar train. Most of the people that were going on the trip looked like they had just rolled out of bed - including someone who was wearing what looked like pajama trousers. And there were a number of sweatpants...
