I can't speak for London but here in NYC I find that the combination of a good hat and a goretex jacket beats an umbrella any day of the week, year-round. The garbage cans are full of broken, inside-out umbrella husks.
I fly to Switzerland this may and took my Selentino fedora with me. I wore it on the plane mostly whilst napping or eating and had it on the tray table at other times. I'm 6' and had no real issues with the head rest, fwiw.
I'll take a look for it, thanks!
The Bonny Doon vin de glaciere used to be a pretty tasty, reasonably priced sauterne style wine.
I've developed an affection for Tokajii Aszu wines from Hungary. They have a very concentrated raisin character (unlike the crisp honey of the Sauternes) and at $40...
Many moons ago my Bride and I took advantage of Granma Baby Sitting, LLC., to go into Manhattan and have dinner at Le Perigord.
For my appetizer I had the seared Foie Gras and I totally splurged by washing it down with a split of '88 d'Yquem. Words can not describe how divine that was.
"You'd better like a lot of butter and wine and garlic"
That reminds me of an interview I heard on the radio of Julia Child many years ago. She was asked what she thought of the trend towards using less butter and cream in cooking.
She responded "oh, it's nutrition rearing its ugly head!" :D
I don't worry about the brim getting floppy on my Panama Bob Cuencano. Here in Manhattan when it's windy it will flap a little; I just tilt my head forward and down she goes :) (which also helps keep it on my head!)
Oh, and they are very good on the selling, too. Here, try on this Stetson or Selentino. Now try on this Borsalino...man, the difference is just insane.
