I have an article somewhere that talks about some film festivals refusing to show it, and some of the big studios too. Don't want to show their pet dictators (Fidel and Che) in their true light, or better said true darkness, I guess.
So many things in the film were just as my family said. I...
Just looked at the DVD: 144 minutes. Wow! I actually thought it was about 90 minutes! I really wish there would have been even more. The screenplay is 300+ pages if I am correct "A Novel written in script format" is what they say. The making of in the DVD is really interesting too.
Anyway, I...
Anybody see The Lost City (Andy Garcia, Bill Murray, Dustin Hoffman, etc.) yet?
I bought it recently and loved it: very accurate to what actually happened there. And they've got some great clothing and hats!!! Gotta get myself some new Guayaberas and hats to go with them, and pants, and shoes...
Maybe it's the location.
I notice you live in Florida. I used to live in Miami and wearing any kind of hat other than a baseball cap will get you funny looks, even comments. I'd get a remark or laugh for wearing khaki shorts, a safari shirt, and a wide brimmed hat in the blazing...
Indeed!
The 22 looks a great deal like the 1917 in my opinion. Close enough to be an Indy style gun, and you get a new gun for less than what I've seen for a 1917these days. It'll look cool with vintage style safari gear too, especially if one installs a lanyard ring!
Hello again everyone. Sorry if I restarted an already existing post.
THanks for the compliments, and info.
The older revolver is a S&W model 10 in .38 Special. I got it from a Korean War Pilot's daughter for $100. It was his carry gun when he flew, but he was now getting senile and very...
Just wondering what adventure gear, and clothing, you all like. Maybe we can post some pictures...
Here's a picture of what I used when in Arizona. Open carry was just great!
Here are a few of my Swiss backpack. I need to add a sternum-strap to keep the shoulder straps from digging in...
Ah, that would be my pick too!
I also would pick Rocklin (John Wayne) [though I don't look anything like him] in Tall in the Saddle, and get my hands on Arly (Ella Raines) WOW!!!!:essen:
But there's also The Quiet Man, and Maureen O'Hara, Oh my!!!
Mr. Magnoli,
I checked your site and must say that the clothing looks beautiful! I am in the process of losing another 20-25 lbs and will order a suit soon after. I really like the Indy suit with the belted back.
I always liked hats. As a kid I wore cowboy hats, cop hats, captain's hats, etc. I guess I was always in search of an adventure. When Raiders of the Lost Ark came out it had a big effect on me. I was also in awe that he used a whip: I had started using one at about eight years old when my...
Are Magnoli's suits more authentic/comfortable than the other place? I've heard of Magnoli. It seems that his prices aren't that much more and perhaps his quality is better?
I'm new here, so please forgive me if this is a redundant question.
Are there any affordable manufacturers of vintage style suits? I am interested in the 30's and 40 styles, and in belted jackets.
Looking forward to learning here!
Havana Joe
