As an embarrassingly regular thing, I find myself with WAY too many leather jackets to justify owning. So, I'm cleaning out a few odds and ends.
First up is a Gibson and Barnes Expedition in goat, size 48. In perfect shape but the straps have been cut instead of looping (refer to pic to see...
Very Sorry!
Sorry for the lateness in replying! Work has been awful and, as I hadn't received any pm notifications, I didn't know there was some interest in the hat.
The Penman ToD is still for sale. I'll let it go for $225 shipped.
I'm letting go of a few hats that don't see the wear they deserve. Up first is a Penman Temple of Doom hat in 100% beaver. I had John reblock the hat for me recently. It didn't need a reblock but I loved the look that John got out of his new block. In excellent shape, maybe worn 2 times since...
I have a Banana Republic jacket that is just two small for me. I wish I could wear it as I love the style (California Sportswear style similar to what Bruce Willis wore in The Surrogates). Great leather and details.
Size large. Around a 46 chest (I'm having to use a tape measure). Sleeves...
This jacket is just a thing of beauty! I have been tossing around the idea of getting one of these and I think your jacket may have just sealed the deal.
And I really like the liner color and how it contrasts against the color of the leather.
A couple of quick (and probably stupid...
Taller than the Fed IV. The overall crown shape is different as well, imo, closer to the Raiders look (which isn't a surprise since, it's my understanding, the Fed IV was based on a vintage block which approximates the Crystal Skull look).
The crown is definitely taller than an akubra. I can never get the center dent deep enough in an akubra without it touching my head. No problem with this one.
I have gotten into hats through the Indiana Jones movies (yes, I can feel some of you cringing, but it has let to a general like of hats that I didn't have before). One hat from the movie that I always wanted was the "clipper" hat he wears as he is boarding the plane in Raiders (he also wears it...
In the Indy world, I always thought that the Raiders jacket looked "real world" aged, at least to a certain extent. The LC jacket, however looks completely artificial, with the CS jacket falling somewhere between the two.
I agree that the Temple jacket probably carries this off the best...
I agree.
Look, Tony Nowak said he created the jacket, including details of how Willis likes longer sleeves and the like. Nowak had a good reputation in the industry. He wasn't known as a liar and there is no precedent (to my knowledge, nor anyone else's, apparently, since nothing has ever...
I'd say that you're right on the changes to fit being intentional. I know that the sleeves were purposefully made longer than the normal ratio would be as, apparently, Bruce Willis prefers his sleeves that way.
They are busy fulfilling paid jacket orders right now (and I think they will think about taking new orders some time in the future). I saw a Surrogates that Riley Barrie (Tony's son-in-law if I'm not mistaken) and Tony's workers made. Looked terrific.
Not trying to stir anything up with this but Tony did create the jacket. It's not vintage, although the master sure did a good job making it look like one. Sure, it's an amalgamation of classics but the "bringing together" is all Nowak.
A friend of mine who was really good friends with Tony...
Hopefully, I'm not breaking all kinds of etiquette here, but I don't think this question deserves it's own thread. I've been thinking about getting an Aero in the next little bit but there seems to be all kind of options and, more specifically, leather choices than you can find with a quick...
I did a little research on this and I think the 50s halfbelt with a button cuff construction would be closest. I had thought to go a different route but then thought, "Why don't I just go with Tony, get exactly what I want, and be done with it?"
But now...:(
