Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

I agree wholeheartedly. The seller and I have emailed back and forth a few times, and it does seem like they are interested in my offer. I thought my offer was reasonable. Im just not so sure that hat is worth $90, even in like new condition. Any thoughts from the forum?

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

I agree with each point that has been made on this particular subject. The bidding is VERY suspect. The seller does have the right to not sell internationally. And yes, the shipping is steep, but it seems to be the trend on the bay. Ive actually paid $15 or more for shipping and had the package...

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Did any of our non-USA frinds on this site win this auction on Ebay just to have the seller balk at international shipping? That is the story I am getting. The seller is asking if I am still interested because we exchanged some emails back before any bids were in. I have said that I might be...

Ask a question, get an answer

Ok, that it kind of what I have been picking up here and there, so it was good to see it all together like that for confirmation. I think I am going to try my hand at reshaping the crown on this cut-down western, and now I have some idea how to attack it. I guess if i screw it up I can always...

    Teardrop Workshop

This tutorial should be made into a video lesson and and sold for a reasonable, yet profitable amount. Well done sir.

Ask a question, get an answer

I wrote about this hat in another thread, but I bought a reconfigured and brim cut western 5X fur felt hat. I think it looks a lot like the Open Road. Problem is that the crown looks way to tall for me. The hat has a crown which is higher in the front than in the back, and has a really nice...

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Well, you live and you learn. This reworked western that we talked about last week showed up in the mail today. No offense intended to the gentleman that did the convert ion, but I think I may be offering it for sale. It is a really beautiful hat, but it doesn't work for me and my long and...

I think my hat is dying! Anyone know hat CPR?

Wow. I do searches on this site all the time trying to learn the ins and outs, but obviously I don't the the correct thing to search for because I learn more in a thread like this than all my searching combined. Bravo sir.

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

See there, I wouldn't have gone for that one because you obviously have a talent that I do not. I would be hopeless in trying to reshape a hat like that. I can't even reshape the ones I have. :o And you got a much better price as well. I hope you put up photos when you are done reshaping it.

I think my hat is dying! Anyone know hat CPR?

I see that you or someone else mentioned the use of alcohol on a hat in regards to stiffener in another thread. Can you tell me what the alcohol does or what the desired result is from using the alcohol? Does it help with drying out a wet hat or what?

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

I was thinking that the only thing missing is gosslin(?) brim edging. I think I would like to send it to someplace like Optimo to have edging and a matching thin ribbon put on Is there a way to get some of the shellac out of a hat if it is to stiff? I know I'll save any more of my boob...

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Yes, I knew it was a conversion, but not exactly sure from what. You think it is likely to be cowboy hat stiff? If it's to stiff, I'll toss it into the pile with other hats I am probably going to sell. Then again, I can wear it on our hikes that we do, especially when the weather turns...

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

That is a fine looking hat. I almost bid on it, but it obviously went way higher than I was able to spend at this time. I did grab this one on a Buy It Now. Paid $20 more than the starting price, but it was worth $20 to me not to have to wake up early to bid, and be sure of winning it. I...

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Sorry, I missed your question earlier. Yes, the sweat band really is gray. It's actually a blueish gray and VERY supple. The hat is a dark steel gray, that almost has a blueish lok to it. You can really tell when a hat comes from an enthusiast rather than from your run of the mill auction site...

Yep, now that I have felt this hat, I'm about ready to dump most of my other hats. I guess you just can't look back. It's like I've had an epiphany.

    need help--Jimmy Stewart hat

Looking at the link you supplied, it says only available in pearl. Any chance you could send me a better photo of your brown hat via pvt message or email? I'm really looking for a nice chocolate brown like in the Jimmy photos.

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

My first Knox Twenty Just got this one in the mail today and I love it. The condition is better than most all the hats I have, and I think it has to be older than any of my other hats. Yeah, I paid a fair amount for it, but I really wanted it and I'm not sorry. This will surely be my getting...

    need help--Jimmy Stewart hat

That is really a wonderful looking hat. For me it's the color that really makes it sweet. Love that chocolate color. Jimmy definitely had a lot of style. I also would love to order a hat just like that one.

Hats on high steel part 1

Those guys are an OHESS guys nightmare. Seriously though, those are some great photos you dug up. My grandfather used to work high steel and always had great stories of things that happened on those job sites. Grand-Dad always wore fedora's, but I don't know if he wore them up on beam. He had...
