12, for me. Which was also when I started working outside of my parents home. Customers regularly called me ma'am at the time ( I was traveling with the carnival, so this was a varied cross-section of America locations). At the time, people would frequently mistake me as my 5 year old cousin's...
I actually have seen this done before, for exactly the reason someone else mention, a physical mark on the other side of the face. I had a girl in my family (1900-1920, approx)that was born with a drooping left side of the face, in all formal portraits she's photographed as a right profile. I've...
I like the red! Have you considered trying henna? My hair is natural pretty close to your natural shade and I have gotten pretty good red results with henna, plus its healthy for your hair and the environment, and you get to play with mud! Plus the upkeep isn't as bad, even though you'll get...
I think the best advice for deciding to get a tattoo has been said many times now, wait a bit and really think it through!
That being said, I think we really have two different types of folks here posting... those who wear vintage/dress vintage for their own enjoyment, and those who do for...
Question 1
Where/who do you usually buy special pieces/luxury lingerie from? Why?
Special pieces to me would be reproductions of vintage underwear. I wouldn't consider any of my stuff to be luxury. For reproductions, I usually sew my own, but I have used various reproduction-esqe makers...
I haven't found that accurate with modern clothing scales. While I am a 10-12 in modern "miss", there isn't a juniors item on the planet that fits my curves! I've been under the impression that junior is cut for less-developed (ie, little to no curves) while miss is cut for developed figures? In...
What part of the Victorian Era are you looking for? Styles changed in 60 plus years!
If you are looking for mid-Victorian (1850s and 60s) boots, Robert Land has the most amazing reproductions:

There is a vintage clothing store in Pittsboro called Beggars and Choosers. Fabulous store! Unless you are my size, in which case, don't ever go there. ;-)
It's about a 2 hr drive from Winston-Salem, maybe a little less.
Ditto on the Nick and Nora line! I love their PJs. I got a set of 100% silk pajamas off a clearance rack last year at Target. Love them! The cotton they use it absouletly sumptious too!
I'll admit, I seldom wear a belt. Only if the original dress came with it or if I goof on the waistline of a dress I am sewing. (a belt will hide many a sewing mishap). I like the way belts look and used to wear them all the time.
Oh, I had a few of those belt kits Lizzie was talking about...
I just wanted to give a positive review for the Esther Williams swimsuits. I broke down and got a "classic sheath" in a loud floral print. All the older ladies at the pool complimented me and said they had a suit "just like that" when they were young! I'm pretty curvy, and even being a...
Do you collect or just wear vintage? If they were at a good price I'd be tempted to buy them and store them in an acid-free box. I have alot of vintage that I either don't or can't wear but keep them for the history or because they are pieces of art.
How about "It's cold enough to slaughter a hog in here!".
There's another one with a nun in it that my grandma always used to say, but I can't remember it right now.

You ladies that have listed recycling as a reason for wearing vintage has really given me something to mull over. I've never thought of it like that, but the oposite... I've always felt that when I wear vintage it's sorta "bad" because my wearing it I am destroying a piece of history.... I...
