    Help with typewritter ribbon!

You are probably right. I did some brief internet searching on Singer tpewriters and didn't find much.

    Help with typewritter ribbon!

Thanks both of you! I have not really played a typewriter since a child so I am nervous about breaking it. I have always thought of Singer as sewing, so that would make sense. I will look at what kind it is tomorrow. Also having difficulty adding more photos, but I'll eventually add...

    Help with typewritter ribbon!

I am getting married in just a couple of weeks. We had purchased a typewriter on Ebay. The seller said he thought it was a working typewriter (might have been where my mistake was made) so I bought it. I also purchased ribbon on Ebay too. My typewriter is a grey Singer. I get frustrated every...

The best face powder in the world!

I use the Jane Iredale powder. I like it a lot. My face doesn't feel gross and I like knowing what I am putting on my face isn't filled with harmful chemicals.

    Homeschool! (and other "vintage" values)

My mother never felt inadequate teaching anything, even writing, but that is my experience. I can definitely see how the grading would make in difficult though. I have talked to other parents who home school, and I know they have had difficulty keeping the English consistent, and I can see some...

    Show us your hair do's....

I have not set my hair very much in the last few months, life has kept me on my toes. You guys (it would take to long to list everyone) all have such beautiful hair. I am in awe of all the sets. Thank you for the inspiration!

    Homeschool! (and other "vintage" values)

I live in a family of 10. My mom homeschooled us all, and I love and appreciate the time she devoted towards our education. I feel as though I learned a lot, and have a love for learning that many students don't have. I am taking classes at a junior college, and it hasn't been a difficult...

Help identifying this style of dress?

Okay, I thought the length looked pretty short, but thought maybe there was a longer 'version' from the 50's. It must just be an 80's style. Thank you ladies!

Help identifying this style of dress?

Hmm... You are right, it does kind of look like a romper. Okay, so maybe this kind of dress doesn't have a definite name. Thanks!

Help identifying this style of dress?

I know these pictures are not from the Golden Era, but does anyone one know what this type of dress is called? Did they have a similar style in the 40's or 50's?

    Texas Fires

I live in Magnolia, where we are dealing with some fires. After looking through this thread, they don't seem as bad as Bastrop, but I don't really know. They haven't affected me personally, but I know several people who have been evacuated, and I've heard of different people who have lost...

    Vintage Sleepwear

I have a question, what is the difference between a house coat and a robe? Or are they the same thing? I have always loved how in older movies, they never went around the house and such just wearing their pajamas, they always put a robe(?) on. I became jealous of Barbara Stanwyk's sleepwear...

Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?

I know what you mean. But as Sheeplady said, thankfully it isn't always like that. In our neighborhood we have a group of 15+ kids that frequently are spending time with each other. You will always see a few kids outside. I don't know how much some of our neighbors appreciate all the 'wars'...

    Is chivalry dead?

I do appreciate it when a man does those things. I've know only a few young men that will hold the door open for me, but I've never had anyone do much more then that.

    Show Us Your Purchases!

I am so happy I am able to contribute a bit, finally! My camera takes poor quality pictures, so I had to take them outside, so please forgive the ugly pavement. I wish I knew more about the shoes. They are fairly worn, but incredibly comfortable.

    Back to zits

I will have to check out the Dr Bronner's products in the future. Where can you buy the brand? I've been using Desert Essence Thoroughly Clean Face Wash, which I like pretty well, but I still have had some breakouts/redness. Lately, after washing my face, I follow up with witch hazel/apple...
