So can anyone help with the contracts/maker please?

    Nomex Flyer jacket

No, Medium really. Not an outdoor winter jacket. Not much different to an MA-1 or B-15D in its insulation properties in my experience.

Museum-grade replica Apollo-era NASA flight jacket

I know exactly what you mean but the "wings" are merely the company logo. If you still feel like you're not entitled you can just pull off the leather badge leaving the black velcro panel underneath. This is how the originals were constructed.

ALL ORIGINAL Irvin RAF type Jackets - Loving that Wolf in sheeps' clothing!

Helllo everyone, Just wanted to share a piece of information that some of you may find interesting. I recently bought a size 7 Wareings from about 1941-2, it is in excellent condition with an almost unmarked and unworn exterior, the internal fur is the thick almost shaggy stuff and is also in...

This sort of thing makes me furious...

Pure wickedness perpetrated by phillistines ! I don't agree with it but have to admit that the straps do look good. I expect it is about the patination rather than a cheap trick of trying to buy into the heroism perhaps of those that may have used them in combat. At least the US pilot jacket...

ALL ORIGINAL Irvin RAF type Jackets - Loving that Wolf in sheeps' clothing!

I know exactly what they did John although being a lawyer I am not going to write it on here - give me a ring if you like...07974 355313 !

    Suspect Irvin flying jacket

Hi John, Not an Irvin jacket but a copy of the type that was made from the 50's onwards, the one panel back, the seam taping and the triangular belt loop reinforcements lead me to this conclusion without even seeing the zips ! The main protagonist "Roy" in the film 633 Squadron wears one, so...

ALL ORIGINAL Irvin RAF type Jackets - Loving that Wolf in sheeps' clothing!

As I said John, the jacket is actually advertised as Veg/Chrome tanned (whatever that means) and therefore this is not an organic process, neither is it vegetable tanning. Chris Tinnion told me that they only do chrome tanning and having looked at the plant 3 weeks ago that would appear to be...

ALL ORIGINAL Irvin RAF type Jackets - Loving that Wolf in sheeps' clothing!

Yes there is a jacket known as "the Few" it is sold in Japan by a McCoys spin off company. I doubt very much whether it is organically produced by Fenland as they are chrome tanning specialists and it is advertised as Veg/Chrome tanned. For the uninitiated, there is nothing remotely organic...

ALL ORIGINAL Irvin RAF type Jackets - Loving that Wolf in sheeps' clothing!

I really like the wired ones for 2 main reasons :- 1) They are even more rare than the regular version. 2) No way is anyone going to assume it is by Eastman or some other "nearly got it right" manufacturer. No offence, Eastman are the best "irvin" replicas at the moment although imho the...

ALL ORIGINAL Irvin RAF type Jackets - Loving that Wolf in sheeps' clothing!

PS - I only paid £55 for it from Ebay and I guess one of the zips is worth that so the story is not at all sad for me although I hate to see historic items wrecked like this.

ALL ORIGINAL Irvin RAF type Jackets - Loving that Wolf in sheeps' clothing!

It's my jacket and just fits my girlfriend who is UK size 6. It has gone a little "stiff" but as she seldom likes my "grubby old jackets" (phillistine !) she was very pleased as this one smells of Persil or similar. Hopefully when AS has finished restoring it she will be happy to wear it. The...

ALL ORIGINAL Irvin RAF type Jackets - Loving that Wolf in sheeps' clothing!

Price Madness ! I'm afraid it was me that sold the £1946 Irvin on Ebay. I had no idea that it would go that far and in fact it is not properly representative and quite anomalous. The bid history shows that 2 bidders were responsible for the price realised after approx £500. Two big chaps in...
