    Cooper Saddlery fit

Looking at picking up an '88 Saddlery on eBay, but was curious if these jackets fit true to size. My normal jacket size is 40. One thing I have learned is that every contract of every brand runs a little different. Any help would be appreciated.

    Dakota Leather

Atticus, I think you're right. That has to be the case. I just don't see any way that these guys have a DoD contract. I'm just very confused.

    Dakota Leather

Gents, Is anybody familiar with Dakota? I recently took my USAF issued Cockpit A-2 back to our equipment issue guys because it was damaged. The "leather" cracked around the pocket and began to peel off! I've only worn the jacket a handful of times, so the guys there were nice enough to let...

Japanese soldier who held out in Guam

Just got back from a deployment to Guam where I heard about this for the first time. There is a little restaurant there called Jeff's Pirate's Cove. On the menu it gives all the details of this story. He hid out just a few hundred yards in the jungle where Jeff's currently sits. Very...

    Just Watched Red Tails.

Hopefully going this weekend. Looks like a definite "popcorn" movie. I'll try not to take it too seriously. Should be fun, we haven't had a good WWII flying movie in a while. BTW, just saw where Goodwear Leather custom made all the jackets for the movie. They have some pics up on their website.

Looking to buy '99/'98 Avirex or '96 Saddlery

Gentlemen, I'm looking to buy a USAF issue '99 or '98 Avirex in size 40R as a replacement for my current issue Cockpit jacket. These are very poor quality and the "leather", and I use that term loosely, has already begun peeling off. I would also be interested in a '96 Saddlery if anyone has...

    Sizing of Orchard A-2s

Thanks gentlemen for the discussion. I would ask you to revisit the link above, as the seller posted some more pics of the jacket, per my request. He told me that it did come with velcro on the right chest, but he removed it. You can easily see in the picture where it was removed. The...

    Sizing of Orchard A-2s

Wow, didn't know they were doing that. Other than the tag I don't know how to tell the difference. Here's an example of one I found though. http://www.ebay.com/itm/A-2-flight-jacket-/290658034950?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43ac91a506

    Sizing of Orchard A-2s

Gentlemen, I have seen a couple of '92 Orchards on eBay lately, but have never actually seen one or tried one on. Can anybody let me know how their sizes compare to say a Saddlery or Avirex? For examle, I need a 40R in an Avirex/Cockpit jacket and a 42R in Saddlery. Just curious how the...

    Gibson-Barnes pics

Nice pics everybody, thank you. Hey Jack, is that considered Seal or Dark Brown?

    Gibson-Barnes pics

Does anybody have any pics of the Gibson-Barnes Air Force A-2? More specifically, what I'm looking for is a comparison between the dark brown leather and the seal. It's hard to see a real difference from the tiny swatches on their website. Thanks.

    Cockpit G-1

Anybody out there own a Cockpit USA G-1? I noticed on their website the color of the collar is a little bit lighter brown, as in this picture: http://www.bestglide.com/product_images/g1_flight_jacket_Z2108_lg.jpg However, from watching the Youtube video, the jacket, as well as the collar...

    Cooper Saddlery Colors

There's one listed on ebay right now, it's going for about $40 bucks, but it's a 42R. Just happens to be my size, but I think I'm gonna hold out for one of the darker colored ones.

    Cooper Saddlery Colors

Hey everybody. After looking at some different A-2s at our Equipment Issue store on base, I noticed a very distinct color difference between the '88 Saddlery and the '96 Saddlery. The '88 looks almost like a burnt orange/reddish color, whereas the '96 was more of a darker brown. The reason...

    Obama's A2 ?

Wow what a cool find! That's amazing how something that cost $9.99 back then would fetch so much today.

    Obama's A2 ?

That's more along the lines of what I was getting at. I don't have a problem with civilians wearing the A-2, it's a great jacket. I wish I had a "non-issued" A-2 that I could wear with civilian clothes. I think what Hacker means by "wannabe-military-types" are these young guys that wear...

    Obama's A2 ?

    I totally agree.

    Obama's A2 ?

I do believe that Obama is wearing a current issue '07 Cockpit USA jacket in the photo. I feel bad for him, since this is the same jacket I was issued and it is horrible. It weighs a ton, it's very stiff, and the color reminds me of a bottle of Yoo-Hoo. I respect him for wearing the same...

    Current USAF Issue A-2s

Well my latest attempt to procure an Avirex A-2 from the wing was a strikeout. They had plenty of them floating around, but none in my size, which seems to be the most popular size (42R). I'm not done yet though. I have some friends looking at other bases for me. Atticus, I have been...
