Lefty is right
For consumers of luxury goods, the "Made in Italy" designation remains so prestigious that it can add 300% to an item's price. But the days of artisans plying their trade in little workshops are largely over, the Los Angeles Times reports, replaced by thousands of Tuscan...
IS this normal?
I bought a federation from hats direct. When I received the hat I immediately noticed a band of color where the crown meets the brim. Is this normal? I know that akubras aren't powdered as much as other brands but it looks very noticeable. It is much more pronounced than the...
What do you mean? Which one is junk? I believe Hatco makes the straw and felt hats for Stetson NY. I believe their cut and sewn are imported from overseas...
Easy Stetson is now a brand
Stetson is a brand. Stetson basically stopped making hats decades ago. Steven Hats in St. Joesph Missouri bought the Stetson brand in the early 70's. They themselves ran into financial trouble in the 80's. The Stetson brand was sold to an individual in NY. I'm...
I ordered a federation in carbon grey.
I came real close to ordering a campdraft but the phrase stupid tall kept on entering into my mind.

I imagine I can get one from a custom hatter, but do any manufacturers make one?
I see akubra mentioned around here quite a bit. Do they have any styles that have a tall untapered crown?

I think it might refer to a 4X rated Felt actually being a 4X rated felt.
There is no standard X quality and about 5 years ago Stetson and its' compeitiors got into a arms race via the X rating system.
as in a customer looks at a stetson 4X for $120 and then looks at a Cinch 20X for the...
No
sometimes it is a calculated descion to try an raise the price of a hat with the brand name.. Other times, and I assume most of the time it is just ignorance and more along the lines of look a hat box that this hat fits in...
