Just in case anyone else is interested, here are the specs for the MIB hat:
Hand crafted in distressed rabbit felt the crown is 4 ¼” tall, 3 ¾” wide and designed with a center dent and finished with a subtle pinch
Thanks for all of the feedback. That nails it! However, that Baron version is pretty spendy. I am going to try to pull up the dimensions, and then try to find something similar for less money.
I just want the look -- I don't really care about authenticity.
Again, I appreciate the help!
This looks like it might be the place to start instead of posting a separate thread, so ........
I really like the style of Ed Harris' "Man in Black" hat on the Westworld series.
Does anyone know what it is, and/or where to find one? I'm not looking for an exact replica necessarily, just the...
my fed IV was too large when i first got it -- so big it rested on my ears. to avoid being mistaken for goober pyle, i put foam inserts under the band. after wearing it for about a month, i no longer needed the inserts.
the hat fits great now (and looks great -- what a fabulous hat! i need...
forgot exactly where i read this and could not find it with a search.
someone posted a systematic recommended way of "working in" a new Akubra before bashing. anybody know where this is? i assume that this is to make the hat overall softer, or maybe it makes it easier to bash. does the hat...
it is very easy. i didn't wet mine -- i just formed it with my fingers, looked at some photos here, adjusted a little and i was done. wore it about a month before being caught in a drizzle, and while it was wet made the pinch a little narrower and the dent a little deeper. i found it easier...
i just got my campdraft and was going to post the same question. i'm curious how one installs the wider ribbon over the narrow one?
and now i have to find a ribbon ...
i shopped vintage stretchers on ebay for several weeks before buying the one from manhattan wardrobe. although i heard that stretchers on ebay were available "cheap," my experience was that the ones in the size i needed were ending up selling for very close to the price of the new one from MWS...
hatsquad my vote would be for the Fed IV over the david morgan. i consider it more bang for the buck at the current exchange rates and the hats are very similar. the Fed is probably my favorite hat.
i'll second the recommendation to try on and buy in person if possible. david morgan sent me...
deadhead
i don't know vintage, but i know the trials of the long oval!
best advice i have is try on the hat you want before you buy it.
obviously that is not always practical. i have had much more satisfaction buying a hat that is a bit too large than dealing with a hat that is too...
can anyone tell me if the fed IV brown is the same color as the fed IV dlx brown?
i read that in the III there was a difference, but that akubra tried to "correct" it in the IV.
is there still a difference?
thanks
KB great looking hat!
what size compensation did you use for your long oval shape? i'm a measured 61.5 long oval, and am thinking that either 62 or 63 would be the way to go with a campdraft.
