    The Hat From "There Will Be Blood"?

    What exactly was wrong with your Plainview? Was it the quality, or the color?

    I was considering having a Plainview made when I saw your post. Was the problem with the hat one of quality or color? I can't find much on "Last Best West" so I am hesitant to order. Thanks

    LBJ Library Hat

    Has anyone here seen or even purchased the hat from the LBJ library store? I wondered if it may just be a Stetson Open Road with a Resistol sweat sewn in. http://shop.lbjstore.com/lbjs-open-road-resistol-hat/dp/2723

    How did you start wearing hats?

    I took a part time job working at a mortuary when I was in college. The owner required a hat and overcoat as as part of our attire and I never looked back on either of them, even after after leaving that profession. My first fedora was bought in 1984 and was a Royal Stetson center dent, in...

    Hats in restaurants

    In a proper restaurant, the hat comes off. As said earlier and by many, in an empty seat, or protected by napkins and under my chair. I also carry one of those rain protectors to further shield my hat when it is on the floor.

    Plastic Hat Shapers really work!

    Could you provide more information on how you do this? I have made my own shape conformers for years using an artists flexible curve and cedar or basswood. I'm very interested in the flange since I am a long oval and my brims deform once the hat stretches to fit.

    Hat sizing revisited

    It's a spot on 7 7/8 LO, officially the dead zone of off the shelf hats. I was just stating examples of how widely varied my experiences have been. The only thing all my hats have in common is deformed brims.

    Hat sizing revisited

    My experiences I measured out as 7 7/8 LO in 1984 at a department store where I purchased a new Stetson fedora in 1984. It is tagged as a 7 3/4 with a "self conforming" headband like a Resistol, and it fits me perfectly with no modifications. At that same time I also purchased an Open Road in...

    Is Hat Ettiquette Obsolete?

    There have been and always will be manners, it just seems to be less of a social stigma when they are ignored. I remove my hat inside churches, professional buildings and restaurants. I usually carry one of those "hat condoms" to cover my lid just in case it absolutely has to go underneath my...

    The Stratoliner Appreciation Club {MODERN}

    Thank you so much for the pictures, that is exactly what I was looking for. Is the color on the Stratoliner mink?

    The Stratoliner Appreciation Club {MODERN}

    New to the lounge, but have been wearing fedoras for almost 30 years. I am looking to make a new purchase, but I am torn between the new Stetson premiere Stratoliner or a Borsolino Como/Alessandria. Can anyone attest to the differences in felt quality and shapability between the two. I...

    What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

    Test wearing my new spring hat from Sid's; a beige, Milan Stratoliner. A Christmas present from my children.
