To be clear, I'm familiar with GB's chrome-tanned goatskin jackets, not so much their veg-tanned historical items (though I have handled their CBI/AVG jacket in horse--very nice). Others here can speak to their higher end jackets.
If this is your first foray into the rabbit hole, I would suggest going with G & B, with one major caveat. You have got to get with them by email or phone and nail down your size requirements. Their default position is to make everything 30% too big, but their leather and workmanship is quite...
My thoughts exactly! My post lady must have thought I was stalking her while I awaited the arrival of a Real McCoy's peacoat. Worth the wait. It's a work of art!
For all of you who live north of the Platte and the Ohio or in merry olde England, think how it must be to be a jacket fanatic while living in southeast Texas! Whenever there's a breath of colder air in winter months, I race out of the house with my jacket du jour to enjoy it. Then the sun...

We should get a little pool together from TFL, help defray the cost of one of your jackets. This is not an inconsequential matter. Finally we could gain some real empirical research results on wear patterns, rather than relying on the anecdotal hints and clues supplied by this forum...
Thank you, Atticus. I thought you might have an idea on the issue. Appreciate it.
And Fanch, no problem. I'll continue the hijack. One of my favorites:

This is for the history buffs around here. Can anyone tell me when manufacturers of the G-1 Navy jacket changed from stenciling "USN" on the back of the collar to punching the letters in the storm flap? Also, have G-1's always been made in goatskin, or were there early incarnations in horsehide?
This from Noble House:
"Most of the time, they were cheap made copies from the Far East, made of low quality, and they were also dissapointing since they were not made with a "love" for the dfdetails.
Our jacket is different!"
They say that the Devil is in the dfdetails....
You did, however, get some rather interesting digressions on the element of homoeroticism in German wartime photography (not that there's anything wrong with that). ;)
While we're at it, does anyone have any experience with leathercult.com? Looking around online there are some pretty...
Does anyone know how to get a rust stain out like-new OG-107 poplin or sateen? Concerned about spotting the cloth dye. Thinking maybe some light CLR with a Q-tip? Also, what is the difference between poplin and sateen to the hand and eye?
We have a winner! I don't know where I found this photo. Had to cross-check other pics to make sure it was the Dick Winters of Band of Brothers fame. Great shot of him and of an A-2. This is from his training days in Georgia before heading to the ETO. By all accounts, a great leader. He...
I utterly soaked a Gibson Barnes A-2 in the tub then threw it in the dryer on high heat to snub it up generally. Worked well, no weird aftereffects, and knocked some of the shiny off. It's chrome-tanned goat. Some of the worthies on this forum might advise you concerning your type of leather.
