Good idea.
I've sold some of them off to buy other toys, but I should have pictures of them in one of the backup drives. Let's see what I come up with...
That jacket in the 3 oz goat will age beautifully. I was a horsehide 'purist' for a long time and every jacket I ordered from Stu was in horsehide, until I ordered a Ryder in goatskin. I'm going to stick to LW goat from now on.
Great looking jacket there.
How do they compare in which regard?
Aero's offerings at their sale prices are worth it, but at full price I feel there are better options out there, depending on the specific model in question.
Exactly.
In my early collecting days I massacred my share of vintage shearlings. Even ones that may appear to be mint (no rips, holes, tears, etc) are just one 'reach-to-the-cupboard move' away from the entire back ripping open.
I'd just display the jacket.
After years with a Merkur Progress...
...I discovered this wonderful razor: The Feather All Steel.
A solid beautifully machined work of art. Paired with Feather blades, I achieve BBS heaven each and every time.
(not my images).
I never thought of that, and now you got me wondering as well. Hard to answer though because the jacket has ample room to give me good unimpeded reach. As already mentioned in another post, even if not functional, the bi-swing back / yoke design looks great!
Hi Cooperson,
Thanks for the kind words. I just received the jacket about two weeks ago, and with the current LA weather, unfortunately it has not been possible for me to wear it in the wild. I'm really looking forward to wearing this when the weather cools off a bit.
This jacket uses John's new...
This thread has my name all over it...
I don't post often but I must this time around to chime on how good these Goodwear jackets are.
I recently took delivery of my own version of the Ventura. Not only is the quality there, but the look and fit is truly neo-vintage. I have certain specs I...
Thanks for the response.
<p>
I would have tried to stick it out with the current color scheme, I'm just trying to avoid having my eyes turn 'vintage' prematurely! I did find a FF extension that works better than disabling the 'page style' through the 'View' menu in FF. Search for 'NoSquint' in...
More of an administrative site question...
...FL by far is my favorite site of its kind on the web. I would be able to spend a lot more time (and post more) if not the for website colors.
-Am I the only one whose eyes quickly tire from the yellow/white lettering on black site color scheme? I...
That text in his website is about as old as the Internets itself. It is older than some of the members who visit this forum, so he's not referring to the Fedora Lounge or VLJ or any current forum.
His site is worth visiting just to read his rants; makes for entertaining reading.
So John is finally making that contract? I was not aware of that. Last I spoke to him was over a year ago and at that time he was not planning on making one. I'll have to find some other model to buy from him. I don't have a decent civilian-style jacket in brown goat or horse (they're all...
I wish I could help you with some info.
I've read all over the web (and heard from others) about Stuart and about how 'difficult' he can be, but my experiences with him have all been positive. I've been buying jackets from him for about 10 years now (mainly custom pieces but a few 'sale page'...
Red Wing 1913/9013 Featherstones for me.
My favorite pair. I have a hard time NOT wearing these every day.
Stock photo...
Same boots after ~2 months of regular wear. Not the best picture, of course.
I would love to eventually get a jacket from GW...
I only own original A-2s (although I'm slowly getting rid of them), and the only repro I would consider owning is one of the Werber 1729 contract with the riveted 'hookless' talon zipper. ELC is the only one that currently makes it; in fact I...
