Bought this suit from Indy Magnoli back in 2008, wore it twice and it has been stored ever since! Very good quality suit, the jacket is double breasted, ventless, with working buttonholes on the cuffs as requested by me. Trousers are button fly, medium rise. All three pieces with the Magnoli...
Beautiful 1950's navy blue rayon gabardine mens suit, dated January 1957, union tag is present in the inner jacket pocket.
Single breasted, ventless two button jacked with narrow lapels. Trousers are pleated with drop loops and cuffs.
Condition:
Suit is in perfect condition, no fading...
Very nice man, shame its in the heavy wool! I've got my baby blue/navy blue gaucho up on etsy, doubt anyone will bite because its a small.
Someone would snap this up on there though, especially for $100...
Up for grabs is a 1940s/50s black wool gabardine double breasted suit jacket by Lincroft London.
Jacket has patch pockets, peaked lapels and is ventless. All original brass buttons intact. Lining looks a bit tired, but doesn't need replacing. Slight seam separation under the right armpit...
Up for grabs are two pairs of matching LEE 101z jeans with light wear in the crotch. No holes, rips or tears otherwise.
$50 for the pair.
Shipping costs are high though at $44 because they weigh over 2kg together!
Thanks for posting this Marc.
This isn't my chosen period of vintage, but the guy has done his research and wears it right. Now if only more than a handful of those into vintage style actually realised how to wear it properly like Joe here...
Oh I'm well aware of that, the owner of my shop flies to America twice a year, spends a week sourcing vintage items, loads it into a 40 foot container and ships it back to the UK. Even with the exchange rate in our favor, it ain't cheap. Of course we have to mark up for this as well, but nothing...
Some of those haircuts are very, very much out of the pages of Donny Hawleys playbook, of Hawleywoods in California. Nice, but the necks and very short length of the quiff hairs always bugged me. Looks like they shave in the part line on some of them as well, which is sort of a no-no really...
They are extremely hard to find in good condition, but they're out there... I saw an original two tone pair of loafers sell in the summer for about $250, so if you see original 50s two tones in a loafer or lace up cheap, buy em!
Could be, but I have a Van Cruise and a friend of mine has one as well, and they're in the standard vein of 1950s ties. Mine has falling rectangles in a rust brown and peach colour scheme. Doesn't really matter too much, just as long as they look good!
So... for instance... this horrible 'collectors edition' bear from 1994... apparently worthless according to you, but look! Someone just paid $350 for it:

Some of you may also be interested in reading this article in the most recent UK edition of Vanity Fair. It discusses the fact that popular fashion has not really changed since the 1990s. Thoughts?
