Hi all!
After much trepidation, I've decided to part with my Horsehide Premier Half-belt.
Specs are as follows:
-Size 36
-Dark Seal Vicenza Horsehide
-Antique brass zippers, ball and chain pull on the chest pocket
-Lochcarron Hunting Modern lightweight tartan lining, black cotton drill sleeves...
I moved the interior pocket over to the right side to avoid this "stacking pockets" issue.
Last modification, swear to god.
It's all approved and sent in now, time for the long wait ;)
My dad's going to be tickled when he sees it.
I'll post pics... in June... or July...
I'll leave the back length where it is then, won't add any. You guys are the experts here, I'm trusting you :D
I went with OD stitching, it should look neat with the dark seal.
You've got a point. I like being able to reach across with my right (dominant) hand to get into my pocket though...
I hear you guys, I'm just a bit worried about growing another inch and suddenly having a jacket that is too short. I'm in my early 20's and it's not an unlikely scenario...
I'll round the 24.75 up to an even 25 and call it a day.
Maybe it'll be a bit on the longer side, but better safe than...
Alright gents (and ladies), we're down to the wire here.
My fit jacket arrived yesterday, and I wore it around the house for FOREVER to really get a feel for the CXL FQHH and the jacket in general.
It was a two tone sunburst half belt, regular cut.
Sorry about the camera quality, my buddy took...
Thanks for the kind words gents. It sure did go up quick; one minute I was just driving along, listening to tunes, the next minute I wasn't.
But it's not all bad, I get a spiffy new jacket and a chunk of change to put towards a new vehicle.
I'm going to go with 1 internal pocket, on the left...
Looking good man!
Would you mind posting a picture of the back while you're wearing it? I like a neater, uncluttered look and I'm debating what I'm going to do on my custom premier HB, yoke or no yoke, pleats or no pleats.
That steerhide looks awful nice man... just when you think you've made up your mind, there's another tempting option that rears its head. How would you say the steerhide compares to either a mid-weight horsehide, or the vicenza? I read about it a little bit, (correct me if I'm wrong), but...
You're making a lot of sense to me right now...
If I'm only going to do it once, I might as well do it right, yeah?
We'll see what I can talk myself into. Need to mull it over.
Another newbie question for you folks, I read on Aero's website that they don't recommend adding an interior pocket...
I read your whole thread, it helped me out some too. :)
Oh man, it's a constant struggle. 22 years old and I weigh 130 lb soaking wet, just like I have since high school.
Good luck with your fit jacket! I'm excited for mine, it should arrive early-mid next week.
I'll post pics. :D
Thanks for all the help Edward, Fanch, Ton, Sloan, et al.!
As per your guys' recommendation, I've called Thurston and started the custom fit process. They recommended that I go with the "premier" fit as opposed to the Plainsman, which is closer to the standard fit, since I'm such a skinny guy...
Oh man, I hadn't even seen this one yet. So the plainsman is basically a longer, slimmer half belt with higher armholes (like the premier), but without the pleats in the back? Sounds great for me. Generally skinny people and pleating don't match.
Thanks guys, I'm going to give Thurston a call...
Hi all,
First thing's first, sorry about the wall of text.
But I have a story for you folks. I'll try to keep it brief.
My dad wore an Aero leather jacket through the nineties and early two thousands, and when I turned 16, he handed it down to me.
I loved it, you couldn't tear me out of that...
