I am one of the lucky ones...
My wife has actually bought me a couple of hats. She bought me my first Fedora 27 years ago. She has occasionally said she didn't care for what I wore with a hat, but I don't dress Retro so all I have to go on is my hats. Now days I only wear my Art Fawcett...
I had paid around $125 for an Akubra. I have never purchased a vintage although I looked for a while. With a 7 5/8 head the pickins were slim. The finest hat I own is an Art Fawcett custom which was worth every penny and more. I don't even look at hats, to buy, anymore. I am in line for one more...
I was really planning on getting a Campdraft so I contacted Hatsdirect a couple of days ago and asked them if the had it in Silverbelly (Sand) in size 61. I recieved a reply saying they did have it in stock. I thought about it and finally decided to get Art to make me a new hat instead. So...
Art Fawcett Stratoliner
I was reminded that I haven't added the pictures of my Art Stratoliner clone. I have had it for a little over a month now. It is amazing even though my mediocre photography doesn't show it.
Light weight felt in Natural color

That is a great looking hat. I have an Art Stratoliner clone and it is by far my favorite style of hat. You did a great job and I think the lining looks very nice. Wear it proudly!
I would like to see their favorite hat that they wear as well. I always like to see what the experts in any area, hats to cars and everything in between, choose to use.
Thanks for all of the good ideas. I will try to remember to put a picture up when I get it done. Information like this is one reason I enjoy the forums.
I have a DC3 lapel pin with the standard lapel pin thingy on the back (forgot what it is called). Is there a good way to put that on a hat? Obviously the pin cannot stick through the hat. Would you just bend the pin down or is there a better way to do it? I have searched but haven't found the...
May I join?
Mine isn't a Stetson, it's a Fawcett. Art made my Stratoliner clone for me earlier this month. It is Natural color in light weight felt. It is as close to the perfect hat as I will ever get.
I apologize for the less than spectacular potography and the hideous hat model.
ADHD,
That is a great picture. 18 years ago my oldest daughter had a friend who wore nothing but jeans and a IJ Fedora. No shoes or shirt. They were both three at the time. You son looks very comfortable in that hat.
New Art Fawcett Fedora
Art built me this Stratoliner clone. It is Natural colored light weight felt with no liner. I have read what others have said about Art's hats but was not ready for what I received. It is very light, soft, supple, and fits perfectly.
It was 102 outside the day I got it...
I have a gray Dobbs Fedora in size 7 5/8. I bought it on eBay (spent way too much) and it doesn't fit. I have a 24" head and this 7 5/8 is too large. I have tried to attach a couple of pictures but I seem to be having problems.
This Dobbs has a rolled and sewn edge and is lined. It is in OK...
In 1978 my wife bought me a dark brown western hat that is "hairy" like that. In TX is was called "Grizzly". I still have the hat and had even been considering having a pro convert it to a Fedora of some sort for me. I keep it for sentimental reasons and figured if I am not going to wear it like...
This is from someone who doesn't know diddley but I wouldn't cut it. That is a great looking hat. I would try at tighter pinch with a diamond bash before you give up. I think it looks good on you but, again, I only know what I like.
