Some help with a dinnerware pattern (& a neat recipe!)

Adding stiffener to a straw hat
How do you keep the stiffness in the brim of a straw hat? I like the brim of my Stetson Retro snapped down but the brim has started snapping up more easily. Would felt hat stiffener work on straw? Thanks!
