    I too, enjoy Patrick Leigh Fermor. For me, a good read takes me somewhere and to a point in time. Very different but may I suggest: Perfume from Provence by Lady Fortescue, and The House Without a Key by Earl Derr Biggers (engrave on golden scroll of memory).
