Can you darken Brass Talon zipper into antique brass color? How?

If you shoot black powder, or know someone who does...used cleaning patches, rubbed over brass or copper (uncoated) will produce very nice tarnish/patina instantaneously. Will darken it considerably. Old buckskinner/historical recreation trick.

Pakistani made Leather jacket round 2

Thank you for the clarification! I do hope the different factory makes you a jacket you love. I have a couple pair of leather pants, and a loose copy of an RAF Irvin jacket, of Pakistani craftsmanship...and I've been very happy with them.

Pakistani made Leather jacket round 2

Unfortunately I missed round 1, so if i may ask..are you designing a jacket to have made IN Pakistan? Or...you ARE in Pakistan, and making a jacket? The grain you developed in that sample is just beautiful!

    B6 Jacket?

Beautiful jacket, man....that is a nice piece! And, sad to say (as i open my wallet, and peer into its emptiness), that would be just about exactly my size. And I concur, woulda been kinda weird... LoL

Been making a detachable mouton collar for my Durable « Wild One » Jacket

A couple years too late but..GREAT work! Looks Sharp! I'm looking into making one or two of these myself, have some nice mouton and lambskin or cowhide for the back flaps. Mind if I ask...what type of stitch did you use to attach the mouton to the back leather? I see that it's usually a "whip...

    Pattern making learning process

Just what I need, ideas for yet another project..lol the other 867 can wait now! Anyway, lots of great food for thought here! I used to make wool/leather vests about a million years ago, and drafted my own pattern for them. Unfortunately lost the pattern sometime back in the 90s. One of the...

    B6 Jacket?

That is a really nice B6! Sorry I can't help with identifying the maker, but I do like the cut, and has some very nice patina. Any idea what size it is?

    Riding gear enablers!

I ride just about year round, so definitely have to have a decent array of gear that spans the 30s-115+ temps. In the summer I wear either an OLYMPIA perforated textile jacket, or a perforated METAGEAR leather vest, normal jeans and UGG short motorcycle boots (surprisingly comfortable in the...

    Durability of lambskin for boots?

I love my lambskin, and have more than a few jackets, pants and gloves made of the stuff...but, I just can't see it being suitable for footwear. Outdoors anyway.

Hi new here. Is wearing a leather jacket basically an invitation for trouble?

You would be correct sir! Funny thing some of us do here in the USA, myself included. I always reference my heritage, as I'm half Sicilian, quarter Polish, and quarter Irish. But I'm 100% American, born and raised. It's "Melting Pot" syndrome I guess..lol

    Langlitz Death’s head cascade horsehide

Never seen one before, but that's a pretty slick jacket, I like it! Fits you very well too...enjoy!

Adding Rivets to Leather Jacket Sleeves?

Yup...just simple "spots", just need to carefully cut 2 slits for the legs to go in, press into the leather, put something hard underneath like a hardback book or wooden board, then press or tap the dome so the legs fold over and secure. Nice thing is, you can put them just about anywhere on a...

Leather jacket (black/brown) hardware : brass or nickel?

Brass is my preference on pretty much any leather...just looks right to me, visual harmony.

One Leather Jacket to keep rest of your life?

To echo a few others here, I don't think I could realistically get along with just ONE leather jacket. That said...if I absolutely had to choose just one, that would serve me well across the board, I think I'd go with my G-1. Since it doesn't have a shred of insulation, it serves pretty well...

Hi new here. Is wearing a leather jacket basically an invitation for trouble?

There's a time and a place for (almost) everything...if you're not feeling it anymore, no shame in hanging it up for a while.

Types of leather finishings. RC Ponyboy

The finish is there to give a smoother "sheen" or slight (or more) gloss to the surface, to protect the surface of the leather to a certain extent...without a topcoat, leather is basically a sponge that freely absorbs liquids of any kind and spots horribly...and, to prevent the dyes from rubbing...

"Knock Out Drop" Painted Nose Art G1 Flight Jacket

REALLY NICE JOB!!! Looks great...I'd wear this in a hot second. Never thought about a G-1 in ETO dress, but I'm really diggin it! I like wearing my G-1s more than my A-2, just a better match for my use...gives me some inspiration!

Hi new here. Is wearing a leather jacket basically an invitation for trouble?

Agreed, most places around the globe MC "culture" isn't anywhere near as common as the USA, and one probably wouldn't get much more than an amused reaction. Yeah Those Sons of Anarchy patches... Never been in an MC, and never will be, but even I shake my head when I see those. Feel the same...

Thoughts on Pigskin / pig leather

Excellent! You have some nice leatherworking skills! As someone mentioned earlier in this thread, pigskin jackets were all over the malls in the late 80s to mid 90s, and most of it was low end, garbage pigskin. I remember taking one such jacket apart, to use the pigskin for several little...

Hi new here. Is wearing a leather jacket basically an invitation for trouble?

About the only time I would see the wearing of a leather jacket as an invitation to trouble, would be if one were to wear a motorcycle jacket with "Motorcycle club" patching to a biker bar (rockers, 1% diamond, ANY MC club logo, etc), and NOT be a member of a Motorcycle Club. Do that, and the...
