Changing a vest lining?

Brim care question
Sorry if this has been done before. I have a fur felt Dobbs with a snap brim. I like the front snapped down and really don't see myself wearing it snapped up. Should I keep it snapped down when it is on the rack or in the box, or return it to the up position when I'm not wearing it? My thinking... -
