Jauntyone - now those are some great comparisons:eusa_clap - definitely apples to apples. I am definitely a wide brim fan. (Although I may eventually pick up a stingy).
Akubra Federation IV Regular
We had a spring snow storm on Sunday and I enjoyed playing in outside with my kiddos.
But I think it looked better on Indiana Snowman:o
mayserwegener - that Lee Trinity looks great and great on you:eusa_clap
Happy hatting everyone,
Ryan
Stan - I feel the disease. I just purchased two in the past month and am already itching for another. I am still pretty new. Got my first fedora a little over a year ago.

I don't think it is "costumey" at all. It's a great looking hat and not really all that shiny. I think it would look great out on the town - go for it! Definitely a classy hat.
I know that a lot of folks don't seem to like the feathers but I personally enjoy them. I'll have to check out the fly feathers idea. I think there's a shop here in my town.
Carldelo - the guy at the hat shop wanted me to send him the the Hampton, which I did. I later called him and he said he'd replace it. I just went to the shop this week and he replaced it with a Stetson Chatham. I wasn't expecting this but I am good with it. I think the Chatham suits me...
Viper - you wear it well. I gotta get me a hawaiian or two and a straw hat - I'm sure my wife will love it.
Chinaski - it does indeed lead to dirty hats. The fed was almost as good as a helmet.

I did a bit of spelunking yesterday at Devil's Den State Park in Arkansas.
This is my "adventure" hat. The dirtier and more beat up it gets the better it gets.
Nice derby Scott - you do indeed look good in it. Very classy, I bet it would look great with a suit. Hope you enjoy your new lid.
Daiz- nice hat & background. One of these days I need a lighter color hat like that one.
fedoralover - I dig the makeover:eusa_clap . Now we just need to see it on you with one of those hawaiian shirts (I gotta pick up a shirt like that for this summer).
I took my outdoor class to the gym the other day to teach them a bit of rope ascending and wore my newsboy. I realized again how out of shape I am. Those kids could fly up the rope and I was sweating like nobody's business.:o
Thought I'd post up my Penman - it's the prototype for the "SPIRIT of Barney." I got it a while back and love wearing it. One of these days I'll have to get another Penman - true quality craftsmanship.
Well, I contacted Red and he wants me to bring in or send him the Stetson. He says it should not have done what it did so he'll send it back to the company for a replacement. I guess I'll see if maybe my hat was a fluke.:o I really like the way it looks, so hopefully the next one will stand...
I bought my Fed IV as an "Indy" hat but then did not really try to style it too much like the movies. I also make and crack whips, but I usually feel akward wearing my Fed while using my whips. I have a black Penman (like the one in my avatar) and I find that it occasionally gets "Indy"...
OUCH! I guess I'll try calling the hat shop. I live a ways away from Tulsa and can't just drop by easily. I wasn't "talked into" this hat, I thought Stetson was a good brand. I'm afraid I might be stuck with it. We'll see. If I can't get a refund I guess I'll try steaming it. I really...
I have tried brushing it - with both my more gentle horse hair brush and a stiffer one. And yes it has fully dried - I wondered if it was still wet too, but it's not. The bumps are like small blisters. I've experienced nothing like this with my other Feds. :(
Hi all, I am fairly new to fedoras (have had an Akubra Fed IV for around 1 year and a Penman for a little less) and I just bought my first "hat shop" hat in Tulsa on Saturday at "The Brothers Hat Shop" (great place, lots of feds, and great guys there - "Red" helped me find the right hat). It is...
