    I really have no need for a full blown receiver so what are my options? I have seen pre-amps where it appears the TT plugs into and output directly to speakers. Would that be an option? Relatively inexpensive.

    Update: so I went to the attic that this is what I have: a Yamaha P-220 turntable I bought in 84 (https://www.vinylengine.com/library/yamaha/p-220.shtml) and a pair of Wharfedale Diamond III bookshelf speakers. Looks like I may have a pretty good starting point.

    That’s what I think as well. I have dark seal vincinza Mariner that’s a year old and brown FQHH LHB that is well broken in and has a nice patina. I’m thinking the blackened brown will look really unique with time and wear. That's what I was hoping it would look like. Very cool.
