can't bring myself to search for an Irvin today.

I often wonder what those boys would think of our manic pursuit of that period. I'm sure my Great Uncle Harry, "Aim Point Harry" as he bailed out of his stricken Halifax over Germany would have said "keep the damn jacket son, I'll take the chute!". I sometimes feel a little decadent and ashamed, but also fiercely proud and genuinely interested. It's a complex emotional relationship we have with this period don't you think?

One thing for sure, the only reason I can pursue my interest in all of this is down to the freedom bought by those men and women. Not trying to preach to the choir here, but I work from home and Sparky the dog has heard it all before.

When I get the Irvin, I'm going to sew a little pic of Harry into it, maybe even get a caterpillar badge, yep, he survived the jump!
