170.000 Wartime Finnish Photographs on the Internet

The Defence Forces' Photographic Centre will publish around 170.000 wartime photographs on the internet. The collection "From the front line to the home front 1939-1945" can be found on the internet at the address SA-kuva.fi. The photographic material is made available to all Finnish people by the Defence Forces.

Notice that only Finnish search words produce a lot of hits. Please use a dictionary to find photographs that might interest you. However, here are some examples of the selection (Source: SA-KUVA):

Some great pictures on there Mangrove, some are quite feint but you can save them and increase contrast etc in picture manager etc to give really good results....great link cheers.

The ones taken in 1939 and 1940 are taken mostly by amateurs. However, the ones taken during the Continuation War (1941-44) the photographing were organised better using professionals from the civilian life. Still, photographing snow is hard even nowadays!
