Hi people,

I am looking to buy a 1930s wool sports jacket (half belt). I am considering vintage, used or new. Do you have any brand recommendations?

I am currently looking at SJC/Brown Beach.

Thanks!

I’d avoid SJC (at least the current offering). It’s very thin, limp and insufficient as a winter weight wool. I’ve had both the old and new and the old is far better. Can’t go wrong with browns beach. I absolutely love that material. It’s thick, warm and looks the part.

Ive got this Windward (not the one for sale) and can say it is very cool. I much prefer the vintage wool. Nice price too. I may get it to have a second one lol.

The original Wool half-belts are a passion of mine. I've been able to purchase a few. They are more scarce than a vintage leather, most are smaller sized.

yahoojapan auction always has several for sale. I got a 30s Hercules from Japan. I've been tempted by many and they were too small.

This Sportclad is from the mid to late 40s also a larger size.

Wow guys, those are awesome! Thanks for the responses.

I normally wear tag size 38 or so depending on the jacket so there's still hope I might be able to find some of those vintage pieces.

I've never ordered from them, partially because they are always out of stock, but their jackets look good. They have several different colors of this style:

Mike makes great stuff! I might go take a look at these in his shop, the shoulders seem narrow vs chest size, but I love cord jackets in the old style.
