I have seen that eagle on various german army patches and the polizei. I was stationed at Panzer kaserne in germany late 80s. That post was Rommel's headquarters in WW2. The command building still had the eagle on it but the ******** had been sandblasted off. I just think the eagle has been part of germany for a long time, and was just twisted in WW2.
