I'll be selling a few nice hats in the next few days. They are priced to sell, and include a Stetson Whippet, a Penney's Marathon thin ribbon, a 7 1/8 backbow Lee, and a black Mallory.
The first is a 3X beaver quality Stetson, probably dating to the mid 1950s. Classic light grey with black 1 & 15/16" ribbon. Edge is finished in an overwelt. The felt is extremely soft but not flimsy; probably about the best Stetson was making in the affordable price range at this time.
The brim measures 2 & 3/16" and the crown is 4 & 1/4", as currently creased. The hat is marked 7 and fits as a small-ish 7 (i.e. tight at the front and back of my 7 LO head, though still wearable). The interior measurement is 7 & 1/2" front to back, and 6 & 3/8" side to side. Circumference is approximately 21 & 6/8". The hat is not pristine, but is in good condition. The reeded sweatband is probably the worst part, and the warping can be seen in the photograph. It is not torn, and neither does it show particular signs of wear. It just isn't so snugly fitted around the interior of the felt as it would be in a pristine hat. There is, as can be seen, a bit of wear to the fabric covering the reed just where the sweatband is joined at the rear. The brim has slight warping, but nothing that has ever stopped me wearing the hat. There is no insect damage so far as i can ascertain. There can be no returns based on size or condition.
