A truly great tweed sport coat?

I’ve used the search function on the forums and not come up with much, to my surprise. I’ve also messaged a gentleman here who had posted a pic wearing such a jacket very well, and his was a Bladen - which sent me off down a rabbit hole, but without yet finding something quite as magnificent. So, I’m wondering if anyone here could give advice about where to look or would like to give some eduction on the topic, or simply post photos of their own tweed sport coats here; it would be good to see more!

Thanks and all the best.

Sadly, I don't have a picture, but I recently purchased a Drake's unstructured tweed sport coat that I really love. It's unlined which makes it more versatile in the climate of our town. I used to own a Harris tweed that I bought (this is maybe 30 years ago) at J. Press in NYC. That was a great coat. I think I gave it to my girlfriend's (at the time) father because I had lost some weight and it was fitting me a little large.

Thanks - I’ll look into Drake’s.

I have an RL67 on its way to me but the fascination very much continues!

Bladen are not often spotted, though they are beautiful. Hefty; if you handle one, it feels almost like heavy denim. Moon tweed cloth, woven in England, can be very nice - a number of places use that. IIRC, Cathcart used it for some of their tailoring (I certainly have a Donegal Tweed style cap from them that as memory serves is Moon cloth). M&S have produced some nice blazers with that over the last few years, though the lapels are on the skinny side if you want to pass for a somewhat earlier look than late 50s. Peter Christian do some very nice tweeds now too; their house cut, otherwise appropriately accessorised, wouldn't look out of place in a latter 50s look. I'm keeping an eye out on a seasonal sale for their 'Burdock' colour tweed blazer and waistcoat; I have a pair of their moleskins in purple which would pair beautifully with that.

Before tweed rose exponentially priced and I was amidst town & gown romancing Lady Philosophy
and flirting with lovely lucrative Law, I sought economical Harris tweed at off campus consignment shops.
Quite abundant and eminently desired academe sartorial wear literally for asking within reasonable price.
And martial surplus stores for sweater and non neutered trench with occasional tweed foundling pants,
scarf and topper.

Gone now for the most part but quite fondly recalled.

For tweed, Walker Slater are worth looking at. I recently bought their Julian hunting style jacket (essentially a Norfolk without the belt or straps, if that makes sense). It‘s one for colder weather but i am very pleased with it.

I also like a lot of Thomas Farthing’s tweed sports coats and jackets.

The only suit I own is by Walker Slater, and I hadn’t thought to check with them for a sport coat.

I only recently came across Thomas Farthing, and am considering their peacoat (there’s a sale on at the moment).

I’d felt inwardly that this kind of style was something I could not pull off because of my tattoos, but I’m glad that I got past that self-imposed barrier. It feels like a whole other door has opened for me, which is revitalising. I was a little apprehensive about how my wife would see it, but she has been very enthusiastic and supportive.

Good for her! Check out yeoldeprofessor and Damien Broderick on Instagram for other tattooed guys rocking tweed and classic menswear in general

Looks great. Gives a very rugged feel/look.
