Someone I know acquired this coat and would like to know how old it is. I am by no means a connoisseur of outerwear and most of the coats in my wardrobe are from the 50's. I know the "Cravenette" process has been around since at least 1903 and had various patents throughout the 20th century. My first knowledge of the process came through Mallory hats. I'm guessing the coat is from the 1940's but the font on the label makes me think it might be earlier. I have read that the UGWA added A.F. of L. to the upper left-hand corner of their labels after 1935 until the A.F. of L. and CIO merged in 1955. That said, I haven't ever found any definitive answers regarding UGWA labels. Any thoughts will be much appreciated.

Maybe 1930's. Lables are often a poor clue. Often thousands of lables are made by a company and they are used for 2 decades.
